Overheard something my manager was saying that tweaked my suspicion that our store, if not company, actually is filtering out applications from non-Hispanics. This suspicion arose from the fact that for the last 5-6 years especially, nearly every single new hire was Hispanic, with the vast majority of those being short, Hispanic women.

Now, this is coming from someone who is actually biased here, and therefore may have misheard it, but it sounded like they were intending to instruct someone to re-submit their application because on their previous application they omitted that they were Hispanic, or were fluent in Spanish. The latter would be technically legal language discrimination, according to a quick Google search. Someone later came in for an interview who presumably was that applicant, and they were Hispanic.

I really wish I had a way of recording stuff like that.
