Venomous snakes. The little dick biting pit-inhabiting junkies you're looking for are called venomous snakes

They're also way more likely to successfully crawl through your window and bite your dick, unfortunately. Not maliciously, but just because your warm open bathroom sounds like a nicer place than the exterior moat.

Just need to hook your moat up with heat lamps and warm blankets, really. Moat full of that and venomous snakes would probably do a number of the local junkie population, too. well, more realistically they'd just eat the snakes 'cause snakes aren't hard to kill if you know where they are and cook just fine, but whatever

What about filling the moat with pointed sticks instead, junkies can't eat them and they still die if they fall onto them, so it's a win for everyone!

If you're specifically trying to keep junkies out, just fill the moat with drugs. It'll be a little expensive, but it'll definitely make them want to stay outside.

...and then you also now have my "set a junkie to bite a junkie" scenario, if you implement it just right.

Local nepotistic conservative Doofus only elected last time off dad's name. Doofus strategically raises property taxes "bigly" cause "small government?" in election year. I challenge several, win significant reductions, and don't even intend to make said Doofus look like an idiot having the I D 10 T error. Judge agrees. I actually know what I'm doing. Said Doofus does not. Doofus done goofus; looks stupid without help.

A.) Doofus politicizing my challenges as "Election interference...." If I would've interfered, it would've been effective. Didn't interfere.
B.) Property tax season has strict challenge time limits, regardless of election. Doofus caused this. Done this ~ 20 years Doofus....
C.) I'm not a public figure (please no). Declare reluctance to sue, despite good case, if Doofus ceases. Paper printed retraction.
D.) Doofus gonna doofus. Attempts retaliatory code cite. Have written grandfathered exemption. Done this ~ 20 years Doofus....
E.) Doofus continues despite printed retraction. Force second printed retraction; Doofus' lawyer likes me, but likes Doofus less.
F.) Doofus' political opponent (running against Doofus) wants statement capitalizing off Doofus picking on disabled me: "No."
G.) Doofus upset his goofus of him raising property tax in election year "bigly" is bad for Doofus. Doofus is surprised, but no one else.
F.) Doofus continues to doofus. Doofus' lawyer calls and apologizes, saying he told Doofus not to doofus, because of the goofus that Doofus will inevitably do and leave me alone before I start advising his political opponent. Doofus' lawyer appreciates me. Hum. New.

Clockwork.

"FY 25 starts October 1; that's her clock. Complicated but: Her salary, benefits, expenses, and position are not included in next year's budget request.... Down to the cent; the fix is in."

October 1, they schedule meeting with her on Friday, payday. They smile and tell her, her job is ending. She tells them her new job is beginning; they don't smile. 2 weeks notice. They do that instead of firing her on the spot to save face. She's 4 days into new job at new place.

New reference; all emails/information forwarded; data gathered; location of buried skeletons noted. Former Infosec/opsec IT sends email that is entirely blank except,

     ;)

Sends second email "FYSA" (For your situational awareness), Tango Mike. POG powerpoint ranger was voluntold the  soup sandwich eating mandatory fun is  canceled. No big voice.

God I love the IT department.

Edit: And third Email that says only "Bravo Zulu."

Truean, I say this with the utmost sincerity: top fuckin' kek. Glad things went that smoothly.

Even without the fan in the bathroom on I've never had problems with humidity building up in there.
It's a building that was put up in the 1950s and never updated. There is literally zero ventilation in the bathroom, and it's approximately 2x1.5 meters area if you include the shower. All opening the door to the rest of the unit does is flood it with steam. The building is also completely un-insulated -- it's a brick exterior with maybe an inch of void space before the drywall, and 70 year old single-paned windows with plenty of small chips and holes. In the summer the brickwork gets so hot that the interior walls are hot to the touch and even a little moisture makes everything damp and swampy, since natural humidity at that time of year is almost always >50%. In the winter it's cold enough that running even warm water in the shower will fog up the entire apartment if the doors are open.

Is a landlord even legally allowed to demand a window to be open? That sounds like a creepy agreement leaving shady landlords the option open to hire a junkie to come bite off your dick if he has a conflict with you.

But yeah, as said before in the replies, it's not technically very hard to make a construction that bars your window from opening far enough for someone to get through.

Maybe, maybe not, but good luck suing them over it in the U.S. It's more that the actual owner is a slumlord who refuses to do anything on the buildings, and the management company mostly doesn't give a shit. They absolutely will not let us do modifications to the extent of barring our own windows, they threw a shitfit when I grouted the gap between my bedroom and bathroom to try to stop the fleas from coming up from the stray cat colony in the basement. I still considered wrapping the ledge in razorwire anyways for a minute, but...

As far as privacy, yeah, it sucks. I've had three separate times where I was showering and turned around to see some greasy dude with his hand in his pants who scurried off after seeing the beard or chest hair. Still less concerned about that than the four killings within two minutes walk in the past year alone. One of them was actually in eyesight, technically -- I came out to find a CSI truck working a scene where one guy had strangled another one to death behind a garage and stolen his boots.

Anyway, the point is, theoreticals are irrelevant. The police force is drastically understaffed and continuing to bleed personnel after decades of mismanagement and scandals, heavily decentralized (thus harder to target and dismantle) gang crime is the new norm, the population of people in the homeless-mental illness-addiction trifecta is continuing to boom, and (let me emphasize this for people who don't live somewhere that it's self-evident) fentanyl is terrifying. I lost a friend and a couple classmates to heroin, but fent is all of the problems of heroin magnified a hundredfold. If you haven't lived with that in your personal life you don't know and that's okay, but those who have understand that you cannot under any circumstances trust a fentanyl junkie to do anything but chase the next fix. The entire sum effort of a human life honed down to an amoral pathological liar willing to say and do anything to get the next high. There is no power on Earth that can coerce them or bribe them into cleaning up, it must be internally motivated and simultaneously supported from outside. That shit destroys lives unfathomably quickly, I watched someone I knew in my professional life go from fairly normal to dead of an OD in less than a year.

It's tragic and dystopian but it's also pretty much unavoidable in this part of the world. There's no grand solution, the best ordinary people can do is hunker down and hold what they have, because the system is dysfunctional and at this point largely mask-off about who it's designed to protect.

I had a cousin get shot to death last year. Because he went into a drug-fueled rage and was chasing a woman with an axe. Don't know specifically what he was on, but it is probably for the best that her boyfriend was armed.

Not sure about it being cold, but ginger and lemon on beef is fine, taste wise? Better on chicken, but okay. It'd probably taste alright.

Ginger ale and lemon together basically has the flavor profile of a sprite, tbh. You'd be looking at something that probably tastes kinda' like beef with a sprite marinade/that used sprite as a tenderizing element, and if you've never tried soda as a tenderizer for meat, I'd probably recommend giving it a shot. It can be remarkably good.

Best steaks I've ever eaten got a can of dr pepper poured over it as part of the cooking process, cooked over pecan wood from out the yard. Wish I'd ever learned what the rest of the process was, but alas.

I think it's more the treating beef broth as a cold beverage rather than a hot soup base that gets me.

Yeah, that's fair. I've known people that drink it cold, but it do be kinda' odd. I'm not fond of broth in general on its own, heh. Good for cooking, less good for drinking straight.

Doesn't help that most associations I have for it is "illness"; if you're not finishing off after some meal or another, broth's something you drink on its own when you can't stomach anything else for one reason or another, y'know?
