... it's honestly kinda' remarkable how often I do end up pulling out a hammer when I'm cooking. Like, there's specialized mashers or whatever that's actually for dedicated kitchen use when you need to crush something or chisel it apart, but I don't have those and I do have a hammer, so...

Apparently, some kitchen tools are just expensive hardware tools, so if you get a clean hammer for kitchen use only, you have successfully saved some money.

Your guests are going to think you're a nut job when you whip out a carpentry hammer to tenderize the meat with.

Alternatively, the meat hammer isn't very good at driving nails. Ours is aluminum. Not very strong.

I mean, the real trick is you can just use your normal one and don't have to clean it. Just stick whatever you're hammering in a ziplock bag (or relevant equivalent) and then probably wrap a towel around it. No hammer contact with the foodstuff necessary!

The classic tenderizing hammer is aluminum, and the heads are spiked. If someone was using a rubber mallet to tenderizer I'd assume they grabbed it from their garage.

The tenderizing hammer we have is wooden, with a spiked iron striking plate.
