Was going to say the same. Paper recycling is a thing. Now books from 60 years ago might not result in the same outputs, but still.

Most Swedes have bought whole-hog into the reactionary rethoric about Islam. They think it's some kind of foreign equivalent to the meek and self-erasing Swedish Church, and anyone saying differently will be called a racist or an "islamophobe" and shouted down regardless of whether theyre a neo-nazi or just a refugee from a muslim country with first-hand knowledge of what muslim society is like*. In the past (funnily, should be about 15 years ago now) we have even had witch hunts called on journalists for reporting that islamist terrorist groups were recruiting from Swedish Somali heavy neighbourhoods when said journalists were Somalian immigrants themselves reporting in Somalian language for the sake of the Somalian migrant community because they dated breach the taboo on discourse.

"Ban book burnings" is pretty much the standard modern Swedish "just put a lid on it" reaction. Rather than having to acknowledge the problems we have, in this case the big problem of neo-nazis who wants to hurt foreigners as well as the big problem of islamist zealots who wants to hurt people for burning the Koran, they would rather just pretend the pot isn't boiling and scalding people.

*Which, of course, means that only the neo-nazi types like Paloman keep talking, since they're backed by their communitie, but the people on the left having actual and important criticism of the religion are shunned by their own side in favour of arch-conservative propaganda and silenced.

I'd noticed in the past few months that my nails looked wrong.....lots of little striations in the nail surface and weird black spots that would start midway in the nail across multiple fingers. Research indicated it was a vitamin b12 or iron deficiency. Which is weird because I eat red meat every day. So I went and got a blood test for vitamin B12.

Normal maximal reference range for b12 in blood is 900. My total was _1900_. So I guess that explains why my nails don't look right.....a lot of b12 isn't making it to them.

The research on what this means is.....not encouraging. It's everything from liver and kidney disease to liver and kidney damage, couple different kinds of leukemia, diabetes or possibly.....a marker for cancer. Although that research is still fairly new.

More tests will be required to figure out exactly what it is. All the other markers for kidney function seem normal, so that points to liver damage and liver cells releasing stored b12 into the blood stream.

I am sort of wondering if this is related to my diet though, which has been pretty fixed for a few years now. 2 years ago I got blood work done and my B12 levels were within range. I don't drink hardly ever, I only consume a moderate amount of junk food so......I'm really curious which organ is affected and how I could have possibly gotten in this state. There's not much you can do to control hereditary kidney or liver disease.

NGL, this is the last thing I needed in my life right now. I feel *fine* and don't have many of the other symptoms associated with vitamin b12 deficiency. But it's just one more thing to worry about in my life now at a time when I just felt like all the other shit going on was starting to hit a place of stability.

There is a thing I noticed about rights movements (feminism, anti-racism, etc.). If you have a legitimate grievance with someone, but they happen to be in a "protected" group, you might get mislabeled (intentionally or not) as hate criminal.

Its hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.  I think if it makes you question if youre being too harsh or unfair to somebody, its good.  If there's a better way to do something than finding it is great.  But, thats internal growth stuff, and I feel like a lot of people care more about the social implications.

Lmao reminds me of when BBC brought on a dude for a talkshow who survived a life attempt by his own family for "apostasy" and the whole crowd and the hosts offered no sympathy, treating him like he was a toxic sack and if they just kept their mouth shut they'd manage to get through the whole program without saying something that'd kill their own careers

vitamin b12 deficiency.
But how could you be deficient in B12 when you're a member of this forum?

Sadly(?), logging in to B12 does not actually inject B12 directly into your veins. If for some reason that's happening to you, please consult a doctor, IT specialist, and/or exorcist.

My 52" diameter ceiling fan has, not surprisingly, both English and Spanish text on the packaging.

The WTF is that people just blindly apply conversion factors: the box says it's a "132,08 cm" diameter fan.

Because of course providing size to the nearest 0,1mm is important!  ::)

(Mostly it's just another sign of people being lazy in very simple aspects of life.  Details matter, even when they "don't!")
