It'd disqualify peanut butter and jelly sandwiches of all things, which is about as iconic a sandwich as sandwiches get, especially stateside. If that's accurate, that's one case where the USDA is talking out its cornhole and can't tell the difference between its ass and a teakettle.

Peanut butter is gross anyways. Jelly is kinda gross but jam is great. Nice fruit preserve on a biscuit, can't go wrong with that.

I don't give a good goddamn doodle fuck what the Sandwich Nazis say, a sandwich is something edible bunged between two slices of bread.

Yes, this does mean a sliced loaf is a giant bread sandwich. An unsliced loaf isn't unless it's between two slices of bread.

This is the only system that makes sense, we're not running any sort of stupid paraphyletic sandwich taxonomies where you include things without bread or exclude things between two slices because it's not got enough meat or someone made it in a kitchen during a heatwave.

Open faced sarnie isn't between two slices, it's something on bread. Bung two of them together it's a sandwich.

In a flatbread it's not a sandwich unless you accidentally tear the bread in two. It's stuffing inside a bread pocket.
