But - my wtf is that my cat has its cat bed on a table next to my desk.  It will happily dangle half off the table if the bed slides that way, and its making me question how the cat understands the relationship objects have with the world.  Cat does know that while the table is stable, the cat bed can and does 'move' which will result in it falling, right?

Cephenemyia ulrichii, a type of deer botfly. It doesn't have a specific page in English but there's one for the deer botfly family.

I could've sworn I've seen it referred to as bumblebee fly in Swedish but I can't find any references to that on the Web now.

I wondered what this was about too; how could I not have heard of this terrible vermin? Turns out the source used by Wikipedia mentions only three documented cases in Finland, and one in Sweden. Phew.

Though we have reindeer botflies too (seemingly more common than the ones for moose, for humans to get), and tick-borne encephalitis in parts of the country. This is one of the times Pokémon is a valuable pedagogical tool - don't go into the tall grass unprepared!
