nenjin, this is a real issue with any non-Chromium open source browser. They're all just a little bit too shit. Everything is built on Chromium, which runs better than Chrome. Firefox and Opera are the only 'competitive' ones which are not.

I haven't really had any problems with firefox, except the one time it decided to update itself with out my permission which broke things, but I quickly managed to fix it and I haven't had a problem since.

Also what's bad about having around one hundred tabs open at a time?

You should at least use ungoogled-chromium instead of Chrome; honestly the former is probably better than Brave unless you want to cash out your yearly sum of $5 after giving their crypto exchange of choice your dox.

Relatively quick check has laptop firefox at ~784 tabs open (+/- 22, I might have added twice or failed to add one count). Works fine, though I sorta' have to close it occasionally to let the memory impact shrink back down. It goes up as you actually look at more distinct tabs.

Tablet opera has... I'unno, several hundred, too. Harder to count on that. It's vaguely amazing it's working at all, even while crashing regularly, tbh. It's incredibly obvious at this point I'm putting way too much stress on the poor thing, heh.

Bookmarks are for plebs, just leave the website open forever.

Several dozen pages, yes. It's like floating around in an ocean of tabs, you make little islands here and there with regularly visited website clusters and fill the intervening areas with whatever's the immediate interests.

Titlebar doesn't get tiny on firefox, tho', or at least if it does it takes an option I don't use. Old opera used to, it was great, there'd just be little slivers of tabs instead of anything recognizable.

Oh how I yearn for the old days, when having more than one tab open was just a clear sign you were drinking too much

The real pro move is having multiple browsers open so you can use sock puppets in real time :o

I'm just like - I don't even have that many websites to visit? How would I ever have that many tabs open?  I'd have to literally *never* close a tab...  Even at work when I am opening new internal wiki tabs all over the place - I think I have maybe 10?

Is this just a strange culture / habit?

Maybe we can start something in the Bay12 religions page about Browser Tabs?  :D

I trade stocks, so I like to keep releveant economic tabs open.  I keep a youtube or podcast channel open usually.  I 'save' some links for later by bookmarking them, but others I dont want to have around because .... 'contagion', I guess - fear that if I bookmark them I'll either end up wikiwalking based on their content or I'll forget about until 6 months later when the context is just lost on me.

I keep B12 open as a 'palette cleanser', and I keep a few other forums up.
