Had a most bizarre experience.

Today I have been mostly cleaning up the effluvia of other beings in the house, mainly the cats and my baby, which has started vomiting, which is a horrible experience for all involved.

Not to be outdone, while I was reading a thread dedicated to the best poster on the forum while sitting in the dark, the blood vessels in my nose decided they wanted in on the action. I felt a little bit of pressure as though some mucus was coming for a visit, and then almost a little pop or something and had the shortest nosebleed I have ever had in my life, lasting a drip or two before stopping.

He's hemorrhaging money.  If he can't reign in those expenses (he says 4 mill a day) than it is done.

Most advertisers abandoned him, I hear, and $8 a checkmark isn't a lot of money.  This is taking time away from other things, like being the CEO of his publicly traded company TSLA.  Their stock price wiggled around 215-225 before the deal, briefly spiked to 235, then fell to a new 52 wk low after the firings at twitter broke.

There are people accusing him of firing without cause, potentially denying them severance pay and other benefits.  Unsurprisingly, people expect lawsuits to follow from that.  And he's bringing in Tesla staff to work at twitter; who's paying for those staff?  is Tesla charging twitter?

This looks like he 'bro-ed' out a plan with his pals on the back of a napkin over martinis one night, and that's as far as he got.

A lot of people follow him.  A lot of people look up to him.  The problem with insane genius is that it tends to be just that - insane.

Wait what? How can Twitter have expenditures of $4M / day?  That's like $1.4B / year.

Musk could've just basically "bought" every employee of the company with that $44B, paying them essentially for their entire working lives for doing nothing.

That's just how ludicrous an amount like $44B is.

Bandwidth is expensive. Maintaining servers (and Twitter doesn't use AWS or similar - they have all their servers in-house) is expensive. Most importantly in this case, paying interest on the colossal amount of debt that comes with a leveraged buyout is expensive. Despite popular claims, payroll is rarely the Biggest Cost of a company beyond foodplaces and retail stores.


And all that is the least of Musk's worries right now. The Federal Trade Commission has to approve leveraged buyouts on this level, and when they approved the Twitter deal it came with a bunch of rules (which is fairly common). Apparently Musk's violated nearly all of them.

Weather or not that's the cause of the meltdown is anybody's guess, but he's been seen being bitter about it on Twitter.
