over at work today the cicadas are in full swing.  I've heard them for the past month but until today I've never seen the buggers.

At home though, a county away or maybe 10 miles at most away, there's basically none at all, not even audibly.  I'm not sure why exactly, there's no physical barrier nor any visible difference in say climate or weather.  It's concerning.

Someone I used to work with told newbies that they needed to go to the basement to get various things to do their job so they spent inordinate amounts of time looking for the basement door that didn’t exist.

I like how my brain's reaction to listening to lossless versions of songs I've listened to is "Wow, I can hear all the detail in the music now!". I'm sure there's a difference, but without ABX testing, I'm not drawing any conclusions. Not that I'll do ABX tests until I get my KZs in the mail, so I guess I can live in this fantasy for a bit longer. It's just the sudden placebo effect that's getting me.

There are little touches I recognize whenever I upgrade my audio kit.

Like my new car has a good sound, even though I likes its bass -a lot-.  And my bose arbuds def pick up a lot on my iphone.

One of my bookshelf speakers plays highs and mids, the other plays mids and lows. They're both biwired, and I expect that might be part of the problem, since the amp is from the seventies, and I lost the plates that disable the biwiring feature.

It's cool, though- I can boost the lows by turning the left speaker volume knob and up the treble with the right one, or heck it all and throw it in mono.

Unrelated- I went to the bars the other day as part of a party. Still kind of uncomfortable generally speaking doing that despite everything that's been said about being vaccinated, but all the other bargoers (not our party, just everyone else) seemed perfectly nonchalant about it all.

Was a lot more fun before and after the bars, with the small party of friends we had together, eh.

I had recently treked to the local brewery on my own.  They have a handful of pinball machines and arcade stuff to do there.

Only place I've found that has a beer I actually like, some sort of sour type.  Reminds me of the granny smith cider I like.  Dad would often drag me to these breweries but I have almost no taste for beer.

Little point in going alone though, not like anyone else does that.

The Ghostbusters pinball game screamed at me tho.

People totally go to breweries alone- they have beer! And tours where you get beer! Sometimes there's food to eat while you get beer! Plus, it smells like beer! Big machines, huge vats, industry in motion! Everyone else is there to drink beer, too! This immediately makes them friends, and now you're drinking beer with friends!

I'm pretty sure that I can no longer drink beer without having a gastric disaster the following day. Or maybe that's just the raw fruits and vegetables.
