More weirdness to pass the time/break your brain from one of the foremost internet archeologists. It's a lot of Internet, though, so use your judgement.

Although I think the human skeleton turned out to have been a wooden replica, which is more interesting, but less horrifying and less common.

I thank you for this contribution to my encyclopedic knowledge of weird and disturbing Internet things. Now please sign this restraining order, preferably while delivering another truckload of threads like this

Embedding 8-bit PCM audio into 24-bit color (8 bpp) .raw images seems to cause some strange issues once those .raw images get exported to .bmp with IrfanView, then reimported back into Audacity.

Spoiler: As waveform (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: As spectrogram (click to show/hide)

And I'm just using a sine wave to demonstrate, since it's really difficult to demonstrate the other strange effects it has on actual music in image form. It's like an effect, where, like, the song keeps trying to play over itself, as if there's 2 'play heads' ~100 ms apart.

I wonder if its fundamental cause is the reverse of when I tried low-pass filtering an image; instead of Audacity treating an image as an audio signal, it's IrfanView treating an audio signal as if it were an image. Then again, isn't .bmp is an uncompressed format, and as such, any exports to .bmp should be byte-for-byte identical to the source material, just reversed when imported into Audacity? It's worth mentioning that exporting from .raw to .jpeg back to .raw doesn't butcher the material this badly; it just ends up being more noisy. So is it a problem with the .bmp encoder?

Edit: Using GIMP to export the .raw file to .bmp produces the same effects.

Looks like some kind of quantization or aliasing effect.

Also, BMP format contains a header. Keep that in mind.

Why does it quantize it so 'strangely', for lack of another word, though?

I place the audio data really far away from the header (1 minute, give or take). Plus, compared to the size of the PCM audio data I'm embedding into the file, the header's miniscule. It's, like 50-something bytes of header, compared to 7 minutes of 44.1 KHz, 8-bit PCM. Actually, the blank space that I embed the audio into is just a blank, white, 5000x5000 .bmp image. Not that that matters, given that IrfanView detects that the resulting file is .bmp, yet fails to open it, so I just open it as .raw. I would guess that it writes a second header once I export it to .bmp?

This video is marked as for kids, despite it being Disenchantment, a cartoon for adults.
Is there some way that I can tell Youtube that this is not for kids?

Are you one of Google's corporate customers, or just some person?

Just some person, unless having a Youtube account counts as being their corporate customer.

Yep. Products go on shelves, and don't get to have an opinion. If you want Google to care about your opinion, be a multi-billionaire.

I looked at what the video is classified as, it says People and Blogs, nothing about kids, so maybe they fixed it?

The comments are turned off and trying to save it to a watchlist says that that action is turned off for content for kids.

But more seriously, Google has repeatedly shown that if it won't cost them money, they have no intention of regulating what's on Youtube, or how it is tagged. You might use somewhere else if you want children's content.

So, do creators tag them or does the algorithm tag them?
