My feelings are too complicated to keep to one emotion, so I'm posting here.
Johnny Depp's wife was abusive. There's audio of it and everything. (Admittedly it could be a fake, but whatever.)
There are people trying to downplay that she's did that, through various ways.
 Some are claiming that he was abusive as well, which I have no idea if that is true, but even if it was that's no reason to downplay her own abusiveness.

I prefer to stay out of things like that.  Especially when I dont have the info.

The golden rule is fine, but it always leads to 'but it was a response to xyz'.  It usually doesnt spur people to accept their role in it or to find more resolution.

But I agree with you, we've only seen one snapshot of this, not the whole picture.

I've... only seen the video of him apparently acting abusive.  But I get that things are always more complicated than single moments.

I too stay out of such celebrity things, but I think that's fair since I've skipped every mainstream movie since Bladerunner 2049.  That isn't an exaggeration.  The cinema experience gives me headaches and I'd rather stream and examine at my leisure, and even then I'm pretty dissatisfied with the Marvel movies as a whole.  Mixed bag, usually not worth the hype.

It's part of the old double-standards that go back to traditional gender norms/stereotypes, however anyone wants to couch it. The male is "active" the female "passive", also related to the "sugar and spice" dichotomy. So if there's any relationship conflict it must be the guy's fault, and if the female partner is goading you, you have to be 100% calm and not react, or the whole thing's you're fault now.

We've been hearing that about him for years (at least, possibly decades). It's not surprising that anyone dating him after that kind of repeated allegation would likewise be terrible.

Still a pretty great actor, though.
