The only banned folk that I remember interacting at any significant level was tuypo1, whose utter refusal to use basic punctuation made every post of theirs an aggravating run on sentence.

I've been here since before the software migration, I just generally don't care or get caught up in these things. I've got my little selection of threads I bounce around, and mostly ignore the rest of the forum otherwise.

I remember Torak though, actually liked the guy. But he couldn't contain his fury at the various anime/pony/whatever community threads that had been formed and were pulsating, so his rage was ultimately his downfall.

Don't think I ever interacted with Torak, but I feel a kinship with them just from that description.

WorkerDrone had the best rage. Except after he got hit by a car he mellowed out so much that he had to leave

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Considering he got banned over a year before you registered, there probably wasn't much interaction, no.

I was almost gonna say "encountered/interacted with", but for some reason I didn't. :P

Wait, what? Is that really what happened to him?
I do vaguely remember his grumpy tendencies (as well as his angry space marine avatar), but I have no idea what used to wind him up.

[...]How are you folks doing? just decided to drop by and noticed the banlog's gotten some activity. not planning to stick around or come back, but i'm curious how things have been in my absence
A lot of folks moved to discord, in part because of the social climate of stuff and its a lot more accessible at times although not exclusive with activity on bay12. Personally, it just hit me that I keep feeling as if I've logged into bay12 when being on the discord (the official one is apparently Kitfox Games' discord, and it's pretty epic as heck and I love being in there). Personally, I love seeing familiar faces like Putnam over there! Cool folks!

That being said, a lot of stuff still goes on as it does in the lower boards, although changes in games have occurred. Currently it seems people are into "Arms War" games where people have separate threads to participate in creative progression in a freeform context. The Upper boards are going about on the latest versions, along issues with stress and moods, and excitement for the next update.

I still miss a ton of folks--but am pretty happy the generality of all of them are in places I've access to, especially on discord.

Discord runs a bit too fast for me in bigger servers. Probably because I dislike to just barge in the middle of a discussion and feel like I'm missing out on discourse when I'm not around.

Ok, that's a pretty funny gimmick account, but only like once a week.

Wait, what about Discord's social climate? 🤔

@Teneb: Discord runs a bit too fast for me on most any server.

so, the social climate depends heavily per server. I'm on both a heavily left wing and heavily right wing server, and the mods control the tone largely.

I'm just curious as to what kind of political leanings inspired folks to make an exodus from the already left-leaning confines of the forum itself. *shrug*

My experience with Discord servers so far is that they're either total chaos or an echo chamber for a handful of popular members viewpoints, with no middle ground. Conversation also tends to die the moment things get exciting or heated, because multiple people talk over one another and suffocate the chat, and then move to DMs.

It's kind of like IRC, but shit.

What does IRC stand for in this case?
