Also, if two people do enter the intersection at the same time, and one defers, for the love of all don't stop in the middle of the intersection for 15 seconds and block traffic to glare at the one who deferred.

If by some twist of fate I end up designing a city at some point in the future, there will be fucking no intersections where right of way is an issue. None. Zero. Even people that know the rules don't know the rules, and even then they don't bloody follow them half the time. Get that goddamn guessing game off the road

A rule of thumb is the defer by default in any case where the other might look like they might maybe get mighty uppity.

Then, when you do defer, and they defer back, accept and promptly speed off.

That's basically how epee works already. It's regular rapier dueling to first blood. Foil is only more complicated because it's epee fenced with perfect form, aiming to kill.
