I got cursed by a witch tonight.


So, some gal at the bar tonight apparently considered herself some sort of Åsatru hag. She also knew that she'd met me before (despite absolutely nobody recognizing the woman), and the one thing she remembered about me was that I was an asshole... So she was going to cast a spell to bring ruin and misfortune upon my life for the rest of my days, because I deserved everything I had coming to me.

Apparently "What, more than usual?" was not the correct response to this.

I also would have gone with "that tracks" or "oh, you do know me" when she said I was an asshole. Like when the person in Las Vegas was yelling at me, and I assumed it was just some stranger until they correctly guessed that I "could use a frozen vodka lemonade." Turns out, they knew me quite well.

I mean, to be fair, after that little interaction she tried getting my attention again by shouting across the bar about what a disgrace I was by failing to properly respect my heritage. How could I live in Norway with Norwegian blood, and not carry on the worship of Odin and Thor?

So I turned to her and said "The old gods haven't held dominion here for a long time... There are new powers now" and then I winked at her.


And that's when she wanted to stab me.
