YaBB came out in '01. SMF forked off in 2006, coincidentally the same year that DF "released" (though the forums were on something else in the beginning, if I recall; Some of my old posts from when I was a wee little asshat look fucky due to the migration).

But the version at the bottom of the page (not the copyright; that's off) dates it to Jan 5, 2017. That's 16 years of updates wherein some sort of solution could have been approached.

I don't have a source for this, but I've heard that the Germans realized meth's long-term effects and started handing it out to their allies instead of using it themselves, which is why Finland had it in the first place to give to soldiers. Kind of a dick move.

AFAIK the nazis kept mass use of drugs all through the war. Heck, the whole high command right up to Hitler was on some combination of uppers and downers to the very bitter end.
I think nazi Germany makes more sense when viewed through that angle, in fact. Not so much cartoonishly evil as a consequence of the decisions of people who were unpleasant in the first place and had been on high doses of meth and cocaine for years

Nah it's designed to work for darkling. It greatly improves the clarity of communication to have sarcasm and similar be invisible.

It's not invisible, just dark. Darkling background is brown, so black text is readable, it's just kind of a nuisance. More to the point, I don't think I've ever seen them use black font, even when making a joke or whatev'.

I’m using darkling now. White text on black/dark grey background is much easier to read for me than black text on white background

Bright backgrounds give me noticeable eyestrain, I'm much happier with Darkling.  To each their own of course!
