Though I am disappointed, I’m not mad at her. This wasn’t a case of her never intending to go sailing and lying to me just to keep me on the hook. She was just a naive girl who didn’t understand that there isn’t enough time to do everything.
There is a great deal of naïvete here as well. Plus some amazingly poor impulse control. She almost double-booked our planned meetup in favor of going to the theater for Avengers
while I was sitting next to her. She did remember after a few seconds though, so there's that.
She also managed to either forget I was there or be completely oblivious as to how sound travels a couple times that same evening, so that was fun too.
EDIT: In other news...
So, making dinner for myself tonight was a hysterical disaster. The fun part of having a stovetop that takes 20 minutes to boil water is that if you put it a bit too high for something, by the time it's heated up it will
stay too hot for that thing for quite a while.
And then the burner will remain warm to the touch for
hours afterwards, which is also nice.
And also the combination standard oven/microwave oven is on a shelf between two different electrical outlets. The cord cannot reach the bottom outlet, mere humans cannot reach the top outlet.
Juggling was also involved, what with having to take the stuff that was being stored inside the microwave out and putting it on the cutting board because that's the only part of the countertop that isn't taken up by my attempt to get the clean cutlery out of the dishwasher.
Eventually I managed to fry up a couple veggie burgers (they were on sale) on the bottom of the cooking pot because there's no frying pan, even though the one spatula has an extra-long blade and therefore can't handle anything with walls. I then proceeded to sit on the floor and eat dinner off my guitar case, because that's pretty much it for surfaces.
Did I mention that this apartment has a firehose instead of an extinguisher? Because that's apparently okay for smaller spaces, despite not being a good solution for either electrical or grease fires, which tend to be relatively common in domiciles?
Did I mention that the firehose holder was installed using
zipties?Oh yeah, and our building does recycling. Basic stuff, just sort things into paper/glass&metal/plastic packaging/food waste/regular waste.
There's space for two small bins under the sink. Choose wisely...
