I had planned to take some chicken to my brother’s house to cook it, so i’d cut up some breasts into strips and marinated it in this ad-hoc cajun spice mix I keep in a jam jar on my shelf.

Anywho, that was a week ago, and I completely forgot about it. Just pulled it out of the fridge and threw it on the pan, reasoning that if it had gone off, the smell of it cooking would definitely tell me. But surprisingly, it seems perfectly fine. I wonder if there’s something about dry rub spices that make meat last longer?

Yes, applying salt to meat preserves it by draining moisture from microbes trying to grow on it. It's also possible the spice mix had preservatives for its own shelf life in it that worked just as well for the meat.

It's possible that the book is toning down the spices so that people with low tolerance from them won't be turned off.

Yep. For most of it, at least... There are definitely some special fancy dishes that look snazzier, but for the most part it focuses on the actually important aspects of taste and consistency rather than bothering with appearances.

If you wanna make it look fancy, garnish with some fresh green cilantro and put some fresh diced red onion on top of the green cilantro. Congratulations.

Wow, I was sort of annoyed by them and now I'll be sure to never install their platform for any reason whatsoever, ever.

So what, the game I purchased will no longer be available? Will the servers be isolated from steam as well?

By my understanding anyone who already has it will keep it, but you won't be able to get any further updates/content. Knowing Epic you'll either be forced to start their launcher to play or be locked to offline singleplayer.
