Very topical, here are some pictures of what happened to a Norwegian church when it burned down and a "professional" decided what it was going to be replaced by:

That's a good theory. Ancient Egyptians didn't have Legos and they never got over it.

That said, the Porsgrunn church wasn't exactly a huge national monument, and Norway has had success with modernist designs previously... Notably, with the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsų (admittedly completed back in 1965).

To be frank, i feel that, too, is not such a great design

Got myself a vertical-grip mouse to replace the old one that is starting to die. Supposedly, they're better for the wrist than the original type. It's quite awkward to use. Straight up/down/left/right is nearly impossible, and the LMB seems designed for the middle finger rather than index. Getting a grip with the thumb is hard, meaning more grip from the fingers, increasing chance of misclick. I'll probably get used to it soon enough, and the mousepad I got for it is pretty good.

EDIT: Added some strips of duct tape to a few spots on the mouse, in particular the thumb grip, and it's a definite improvement.

Going through some old-ish books today, 70s, 80s stuff mostly. Hit a book on family photography and it was, like. Yeah, this is old. Not a single picture in the book had a non-white person in it. Saw something similar with an old childhood development book. It actually had minorities in it, but there were more asian folks than black or latinix and small amounts of any. It's legit kinda' jarring, which I guess is sorta' good thing.

To complete my taxes online, I had to provide my previous years' Adjusted Gross Income (a number you get after some calculations, which shows up pretty much nowhere else, and should be secure because it's mostly useless alone) for the IRS to compare to, to prove I am myself. Obviously I don't have that information, so I had to request it from the IRS. I ended up having to print and mail my taxes (after only a few hours of work), because the number the IRS provided me from their database didn't match the number the IRS had in their database. I re-checked the number and also resubmitted (because I copy-pasted it right the first time) and still no luck.

This constant defunding of things to make sure they don't work is not only asinine, it's also personally affecting me now. A few days ago. Whatever.
