I am aware, just repeating the words of commentators. Apparently the fire created structural damage, insofar as they can't simply rebuild the damaged portions.

I ain't no architect, cannot verify. Presumably it cannot be rebuilt easily, or they would have to rebuild the entire thing for practical purposes to repair general structural damage, or something.

While it can be rebuilt (it's not like the techniques are lost to time or anything), it still will be a copy of the one that just burnt down.

The bigger loss is whatever documents, paitings and whatever else was inside.

In seriousness, though, modernism does not scream grandeur and class to the extent which the gothic does/did. We have adopted a new aesthetic of thought over beauty, logical appreciation over instinctual regard.

dude.  Get a class mate to give a ride.  Dont do a whole daytrip on a bus or train.


Hell, Id consider shelling out the $120 it takes to rent a car for the day.  Dont spend 4 hours taking trains and waiting for connections.
