Tritely, it's Twitch crossed with OnLive.

It claims to be highly performant. Yet the Stadia controller connects to your wifi and sends your inputs to Google for processing. The Stadia server could be amazing but, unless they're doing some amazing predictive magic (which, by the by, Linus Tech Tips has a pretty good video on), I imagine the input/response delays will be intense.

I can't see how it would be pleasant to play or profitable for google.  Hardware isn't exactly cheap, and game developers are always going to want their cut.  I'd bet this goes the same way as OnLive did.

Seriously.  This sounds like they need to start putting hidden body cams inside the damn buttons or badges, so that there is no convenient "oops! I dunno sarge, it must have shut itself off!" bullshit like this.  I get how these things can malfunction-- as a former IT guy, I TOTALLY understand how they can and will fail. (defective batteries, wires get broken from moving around)  So, instead we need redundancy.  Lots of redundancy.  With units the police do not know about, and must never know about.

You’re forgetting that currently, police already have the ability to turn the body cams off and on at will, and frequently ask each other to turn them off with no attempt to hide said request.

Perhaps make that illegal first, and then start stuffing redundant body cams everywhere?
