I think Asian tea culture is far superior to the ones in Europe.

What did you excpect? It doesn’t grow naturally in Europe, so we just do with the old stuff that’s been on a box in a ship for days, and then processed and mixed.

The unsweet version is a convenient caffeine source/way to improve the taste of tap water, but yeah default sweet tea ranges from "I just feel thirstier" to "How is this not precipitating".  McDonald's in particular tastes like syrup, and they seem more likely than most places to forget my request for unsweet.

Making a mug of hot tea in the morning is pretty nice sometimes~

Oh c'mon, we can one-up southern sweet tea. It's even pretty easy! Instead of boiling water to make it, boil soda. Mountain dew is a good base.

If you even wanted to taste molten sugar, that's probably your best bet that doesn't involve literally melting sugar with pure heat. Extra bonus points, unless you go for decaf it's massively caffeinated, too!

Now, see, I liked iced tea... As in, bog-standard tea with some ice and maybe a wedge of lemon. But ordering an iced tea is always a gamble of "will it be drinkable, or will it crystallize on my teeth?" when I'm out and about. I call it Lipton Roulette.

I also like Long Island iced teas. I tried a Three Mile Island iced tea once, and while I rather liked it, it gave my parasitic twin indigestion.

You try drinking hot tea when it's 40C all day long. Iced tea is a life-saver.

And I do mean regular tea, but cold.

There is an entire spectrum of sweet between "this drink has never even heard of sucrose" and "my drink is literally precipitating rock candy". I'll learn my lesson once per restaurant - if theirs is too sweet, most are happy to make you a glass of half-and-half.

Be sure to check. That may mean half-lemonade or a glass of coffee creamer depending on your server's interpretation.

Coffee is high energy swill - tea is a refined boost, subtle in its consideration and pleasingly aromatic.
