I was being sarcastic, as I am from a people with such a myth prolonged about it.

Although that Google translation is unintentionally hilarious due to interpreting the word "ätt" (meaning family/bloodline) as "eat". So it comes off as if instead of throwing them off of cliffs the myth is that my people force their elderly to eat themselves to death.

I've caught an OS bug on my Win7 laptop that causes the second active program icon to have the Firefox icon. It's both confusing and hilarious.

Oh man the auto-translate makes it feel like I'm having a stroke.

This appears to be an English version, without the translation problem.

I was just gifted a little bluetooth speaker again. I wonder why people think I'd want these things, considering that I'm very introverted and always use headphones. I'm not entirely sure what the use case for the things is, to be honest.
Well, I do have one idea, but it's probably something I could have done with software wizardry. Trying to set up audio stuff in windows is super very confusing, though.

Just discovered that, in Google Chrome (at least in oh-so-outdated Xp version), by default:
1. Downloads require no confirmation.
2. Files automatically open on download. Again, by default. You can remove this, on each file separately. Probably you can disable this totally, but i dont see the option. And... when you downloaded virus files (don't lie, you did), remember, how much did it weight?
?
?
?
 :P
From now on, if google will ever say something to me about security, i will cackle madly and go away, because it either doesn't care about it or intentionally undermines it.

You, uh, do realize you said it was an outdated version, right?

How old is it?

On my Google Chrome (at least in somewhat-more-updated Windows 10 version, by default:
1. Downloads believed to be dangerous are stopped, with the only option available being “discard”.
2. Files must be opened manually.

It’s not that Google doesn’t care about your security out of incompetence or indifference.

It’s that it doesn’t care about security because they’d violate it as hard as possible if they thought doing so would help.

Apparently a rocket launcher showed up at a gun buyback in Baltimore https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/422839-rocket-launcher-returned-as-part-of-baltimore-gun-buyback

I’d guess it probably became military surplus at some point.

>company used to do something insecure
>company no longer does it
>obviously the company doesn't care about security
>???

Besides which by running XP you instantly voided your right to complain about security.

Uh... yeah, as much as I'd sorta' like to, you can't really blame someone for not being terribly secure regarding software they haven't supported for like... years. On an OS they haven't supported for roughly the same amount of time.

An OS which is explicitly unsafe and, in fact, quite possibly the least safe OS that exists at this point.

And yet massively profitable businesses still run some of their operation off of Windows XP machines. I should know. I have to support them.

Then again it's probably easier and faster for a single user to get right than a multi-million dollar corporation.

Isn't Windows XP basically the most stable Windows OS outside of like, 98? I'd probably prefer it over any other windows for running a business unless I had fancy software to run that required a more modern OS.
