Was trying not to stir up the last kerfuffle, which is probably unfair to Tru, for whom I have a lot of respect as well. She's a strong and brave one, and it makes me sad to see her go too. Bay12 has been the relief and respite a lot of people have needed and used over the years- collectively, we need to do more to uphold that.

This is probably fair. It reinforces the importance of the principle of charity.

You know, this bout of Bay12ers being terrible again make me kind of wonder why I even hang around here. It's not like I even post anything here apart from shitposts anymore.

Nothing against the current group of regulars, though. I just think that maybe the environment has changed. The more progressive people left, now that we have more extended communities. Bay12 continues to be a place for those who don't feel they fit in, but now not fitting in means you don't agree with certain points of counterculture, but you also don't support Trump. So... I don't have anything in common with you guys anymore. Much like the others who left, I suppose.

So I guess this'll be my casual "bye" too.

For what it's worth, while we have a great many differences and I'm sure we would not get along in person, I quite appreciate your presence and contributions on this board, Cinder. Certainly a lot more than I used to, anyway - you seem to have, I don't know, become a great deal more chill over the years, I guess.

I was actually meaning to say this a while back (when you mentioned something about folks on the forum harassing you, if I remember correctly?), but I guess I forgot, as I do with most things I plan on doing. Oh, I'll probably lurk for a while, but you know, probably would try to wean myself out of the habit eventually and find greener pastures. Plus I'm still on #bay12lb but that's not even part of Bay12forum any more and most people there don't count as regulars of this forum.

I'd probably eventually show up with a forum game crosslinked with another forum since I'm an attention hog, but I'll refrain from starting new discussion threads and trying to start clubs (which never really go anywhere anyways).

I find myself disgusted with the practices of BBC on a weekly and semi-weekly basis.  The unfortunate truth, though, is that they are on of the better ones.

The weather has started getting properly chilly now, so the beggar mafia is out in full force (this being the most pity-worthy, and thus most lucrative, season). All the regular checkpoints are manned, they're calling out to every passerby now, and there's even another asshole hanging around the train station asking for "help getting home" (this makes the 3rd/4th time I've been approached with this scam, and it's been the same dude doing it for most of them. I must not have a very memorable face), usually to the tune of $50 and a sudden language barrier when I try to explain that talking with the conductors can sometimes get you a free ride if you're legitimately up shit creek. Not really a WTF, just some free-floating misanthropic annoyance.


A proper WTF would be how I'm reacting to this by thinking up maledictions in imaginary languages, so that if I'm met by a particularly obnoxious individual I can try and freak them out by pretending to put a curse on them. While entertaining, that seems wrong on several levels.
