The coworker, claims she saw all this happen before with other locations, and claims that putting a foot down just results in them purging the store.  Closing it for a few days, firing everyone at the location, and reopening with all new staff.  Claims they are terrified of anything that looks remotely union.   She's probably exaggerating, but I can't tell.  P.S. She said all this during the time the ASM quit and was not this particular crisis, she might feel differently now.

I barely want the responsibilities I have now, let alone more, but I'll be able to speak to my coworker Thursday (since of course we are open thanksgiving night) and maybe suggest working together to put our foot down a bit more forcefully.  At the very least to make sure we aren't putting our feet down on the other's toes so to speak.

That didn't stop them for the two weeks when the ASM quit while the store manager was off in California, I doubt that would stop them now.  But we'll see.  I'll probably bring up the legality of it too.  I suppose there is still an off chance the bigwigs have it all under control and just aren't telling us anything.

[spoiler=rant]CEO of the company (a large country wide company) visited my workplace recently.  Things went well from what I was told.  We are in the top 10% of best performing stores.

They Lied.  My boss is being forced to resign by the end of the week. We are indeed top 10%, but supposedly something my boss said about the store's stats conflicted with what the CEO was telling a shareholder, so he's gone.

From the way my Boss told it, and from what I could gather from things the district manager told us: 

Supposedly the CEO said one thing, and the Store manager said another.  It may have been sales numbers, as that is the only thing the store is a bit lower than last year.  The top 10% thing is some kind of grading metric I was shown the paperwork for.  I did not fully understand the paperwork, but my boss told me that we have the highest grade possible in most areas, and that we're in the top 10% in the region.

Even if he did conflict the CEO on sales numbers all the graphs saying our sales are displayed plainly for everyone(who is an employee) to see in the break room, and they specifically compare our numbers to last year's.  You don't have to be a genius to see most of those bars are on the negative axis of the scale.

As for forced to resign, I don't know if it's an actual being told "hey I want your resignation" But he is clearly resigning, paperwork entered at all, and he very clearly did not want to.

As for shareholder everyone assumes that's what it was, as the whole thing was described as some kind of tour to us in the emails before it happened, it would seem odd for the CEO to be saying things about the store if the tour was for their benefit.  I don't think anyone actually asked.

Just because someone is working with their own way in handling an experience you have next to zero idea about does not give anyone else the right to run them over and claim "free space". People do that for reasons to them and the best reaction takes less effort and energy than whatever led up to ignoring them. "Yeah sure," and then what is requested doesn't happen, and the whole issue is done.

Pretty much relevant to this thread. I'm getting the feeling that disconnection is becoming a big part of interaction when these situations happen.

Yeah, thanks and sorry. It has a lasting effect on people by impression regardless of previous pages and that got to me. I just don't like seeing people go away--it detracts from the community because of issues inside, and I guess much of what pushed me to mention that is because I've been seeing the theme of disconnection become more apparent in online media when communication is a very profound and potential area for people. (And the lack of it is stifling)

There are people on here with whom it is literally impossible to communicate because they've philosophized themselves out of having to admit that other people are real or meaningful. What purpose does anything but disconnection serve, except to give them more opportunities to vomit forth edgy nihilist casuistry and start pointless arguments?

So I assume that you're already looking for a new job? If it's so easy for them to find new help after shutting the place down for a little while, well let them. And if they can't, as I think is the case if they're leaving you hanging to fend for yourself, then let them fail.

Greiger, on the one hand, fuck that shit.  On the other hand, only a few of us have jobs where we aren't more or less replaceable.  This is simply the way of the world.  Justice is a concept that we like to think applies, but sadly it doesn't, and the universe laughs at us for trying to impose it.

Greiger just needs to remind his boss' that, in this time of turmoil and disarray, that he stands as a pillar of righteousness and workforce efficiency.  His hard work and dedication to the job and company has surely been noted in the eyes of the leaders of the company, and his ability to take on new responsibility has made him an ideal and willing candidate for store management.  It's not even a 'new' position for him, really, as he can see how he has been groomed for the eventual role.
