Here's the shtick: the new governments would be exactly the same (if not worse) than the ones that came before them. There's nothing stopping them from becoming oppressive again.

If there was some cataclysmic event that destroyed a government, I doubt whoever's left picking through the remains is going to somehow form a new, identical government just as powerful from what they can salvage.

People innately desire power. While the new government will not be as powerful initially (due to a lack of resources), it will grow more powerful with time due to human nature.

You know, Youtube being up is so reliable that when it was down, I literally spent a 15-20 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong on my end. Restarted my computer, disabled extentions, I was on the verge of deleting my cache and browsing history before I just gave up and hoped it would work later. It literally did not even occur to me that YouTube could be down, and in fact I didn't realize it was down until I heard people say so on a TF2 server I was playing on.

Was one hell of a wtf if I do say so myself.

The current system getting torn down will cause people to die. So you are killing people for no real long-term benefit. I personally prefer stagnation to turbulence.

Edit: @Misko: yeah, it didn't even occur to me that it might be an issue on their end. Then again, my internet is often rather screwy, so I suppose it's not surprising that I assumed it was to blame.

I didn't entirely get what you meant. The only thing that came to mind is abortion. Can you explain? I'm not a native English speaker.

Sorry, I see know how that could be confusing.
I basically meant that lives lived under the yoke of a near-omnipotent government aren't really lived at all. So that while there may not be many people being straight-up killed by their government, they aren't really alive in the first place.


(I am more-or-less pretty much pro-choice, as an aside.)

I'd hardly call most current governments omnipotent. There is really no reason to tear them down, barring a few exceptions (cough cough North Korea cough cough). They are hardly getting more oppressive in most cases, even if they are still authoritarian (compare Putin's Russia to <INSERT SOVIET LEADER HERE>'s Russia or modern China to Mao's China and you will see).

Their government is so extremely oppressive that killing people to tear it down is acceptable, because it will save more people from oppression and won't cause the government to come back, unlike normal capitalist ones.
