the sun’s corona is hotter than it’s actual surface
Not really surprising. The particles with the most energy are the ones that rise up. Sort of like saying how per-molecule the steam rising off the ocean is hotter than the ocean.
Also, I've started to like videos by
this guy, who looks at the culture wars, but he's a critic from a more liberal point of view but still against the whole SJW craziness that's going on. Gives a good balanced view.
One area I'm interested in is women in STEM areas and how that can be improved in
constructive ways. The video's about a recent study that's saying that all that advocacy that "STEM is sexist and they're out to get you" in fact
backfires in getting girls into STEM. What a surprise! The advocates of this stuff are rarely in STEM fields themselves, and they're indoctrinating a generation of young girls that STEM is a hostile place, and expecting those girls to somehow charge in like gender warriors and pull the walls down. Well, those girls aren't cannon fodder, they're sensible people who want to have a
career and the sort of hostile-to-the-industry attitude that the advocacy foments is exactly the opposite of what employers are looking for in new employees, male or female. So, the advocacy actively steers the type of women STEM needs
away to other fields where they feel there will be less hostility. And the type of person who is actually into all that "kick the doors in" sort of rhetoric is ... unlikely to have a personality that's going to be a good asset to STEM fields.
