My friend watched that show almost religiously. She didnt think the "gym equipment up the butt" episode was as hilarious as i thought it was. Sad for that poor girl, but hilarious nonetheless.

That 2 minutes of reading what I assume is an incel group's post on not allowing women on thesubreddit is 2 minutes I wish I had back. Fucking wow.

My favourite comment was "the women aren't coming here to fuck us", as though that's the only thing of value a woman can do. Which, you know, I guess I "get", but it really is just a sad utterly tragic way to think of things.

Gee, it's almost like there's reasons to hate specific people, but hating random people because of ethnicity/gender/sexuality is an inherently asshole position that only truly shitty fucktards have the "logical" "capabilities" necessary to make an ass backwards leap like that.

It's almost exactly like no one's opinion that was/is being deleted had/has value because they're deliberately espousing long-since disproven "ideals" based in ignorant hatred. Or am I somehow incorrect in thinking this?

I mean, it's important we know what the Nazis thought so we avoid all that but do we really need these monuments to ignorance?

The good news is that I don’t miss any of them and almost all of them did deserve to go away, but I’m not happy with the fact that a lot of this is ideologically motivated. According to the comments it seems like the people responsible for this are perfectly okay with going off the deep end in the opposite direction, so it’s clear that they weren’t thinking completely rationally when making this decision.

Honestly, I wonder what would happen if they finally did cross “the line” whatever that may be. How exactly would people react? Would an alternative website pop up that did the same thing reddit did but better, would we just return to having multiple accounts for multiple forums like we used to have. Or is there no “line” that can realistically be crossed and we just keep taking these things as they continue to come.

Thing is, reddit isn’t YouTube. It’s not that hard to a make forum like it is to make a video hosting platform. A lot of Reddit’s power is simply due to the place it has in our culture. If our culture develops enough disdain for it, it won’t be too hard to convince people to leave.

Reddit has been scummy for a long time, this is no real surprise.
I didn't look through the list of "quarantined" subs but they've already been completely banning ones that don't align with the views of their ownership for a long time.

I guess "quarantining" them is slightly less douchey than deleting them outright, but... I'm guessing the end result is kinda like trying to watch videos in restricted mode on Youtube, haha.
Everyone involved would be better off just finding a better site.

Yeah. Quarantining serves as a nice big "WE DID IT, REDDIT" when in reality, nothing major has changed. They will continue to post and possibly leak out elsewhere.

In general, Reddit's very style is encouraging of hugboxes, so it's very likely that the most "damaging" scenario is that they just make another board.
