Another story today claiming that 50% of Japanese under 40 are virgins.
https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/relationships/dating/why-young-single-people-in-japan-are-no-longer-having-sex/news-story/ef416ffecdba398b6aab91e56564bfcb

Quote
Why young single people in Japan are no longer having sex

IT’S a difficult concept to digest. But Japan is facing a national catastrophe, simply because young people aren’t having sex.

Yeah, no actually. They have more babies than Germans, about the same as Italy and not many less babies than Canadians. And nobody is accusing Germans, Italians and Canadians of not having sex. These stories are bullshit racially-driven clickbait basically.

Quote
In fact, the national “turn off” is growing so rapidly, that almost half of those under 40 in Japan are still virgins.

There are some videos debunking this. You can see why it's bullshit by reading the source articles:

http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/lifestyle/healthandwellness/581959/poll-of-young-japanese-more-than-40-are-virgins-70-of-men-not-in-relationship/story/

Quote
TOKYO - More than 40 percent of young Japanese single adults are virgins

Note, the survey data only mentions "single" adults, not all adults as the later articles claim. One video points out that when you factor in marriage rates, the number of no-relationship people at age 30 becomes 12%

EDIT: so today's story took a survey of 18-34 year old singles, for whom 40% said they'd never had sex. Then they rounded 34 up to 40, and rounded 40% up to 50, and omitted the detail about how it only applied to single people and not all people. That's three types of bullshit applied at once.

Maybe half of them are virgins and the rest are just super active shaggers.

I went to a big, somewhat out-of-the-way Supermarket today. I bumped into this old man by coincidence two times at different ends of the store, and then a third time at the cash register. His items? Two bananas. Just two bananas. I wanted to chase him down and make him explain himself; who would go to a place like this, wander around for 15-20 minutes, and then only buy two bananas? I needed to know the story cause he seemed quite happy about it too.

Wait, you can buy individual bananas? What kind of new height of savagery and barbarism is this? You buy bananas in bunches. That's the civilized thing to do.

Could be that he was new to the area and wanted to browse the entire offerings of the store, but didn't actually want to buy anything. He then picked two bananas (a cheap snack) because it feels so weird and impolite to leave a store without buying anything.

Source: I've done this a few times, myself.

Aye, I've done that before, too. Comparative shopping kinda' requires feet in the store without inclination towards purchase. Mind, I've just walked out without buying, too. Politeness bows to a thin bank account, some days.

... that said, old folks occasionally wander around like that regardless. Never have, like, asked why they do it, though. Probably never will, tbh. Vaguely or not so vaguely senile people wandering around generally isn't something you want to get involved with unless you got real strong reason to :-\

That old man may have been me from the future. Sometimes if it's convenient to go to the grocery store, because I was at some other store nearby for an actual purpose, I browse and see if there's anything I want, maybe find some ideas for dinner when I'm ready to shop, and sometimes I don't get anything and just leave.

And where do you work, Parsely? Drawing those erotic images of yours?

I can understand not wanting to put a flappy damper on the dinger spring.
Drawing porn is my hobby, I don't understand what connection you're making. Like, are you taking a dig at me for objecting to something I thought was NSFW because I draw porn in my free time?

What does that even mean?

Is it really unreasonable to assume those birds are being killed, and if so, to want not to see that?

if they were grinding the grain it wouldn't be open to the air. they sift and clean the grain + process before that happens. it's just a grain elevator going to trucks or whatever. though if some pigeons crapping on grain is worrying just don't google the 'food defect action levels' which determine how many insect parts and rat hairs are allowed in a bag of flour.

but i put it on a spoiler since it is a simple request i guess

(also if you want to be more scared for the pigeons again pretend that the conveyor leads to an auger, but i doubt this. gravity chute go down, auger go up. same mechanism as pump stacks on DF.)

Yeah hopefully... I didn't mean for my reaction to come off so strong, I just assumed animals were being hurt and I don't like seeing that.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Didn't want it to be this whole dramatic thing, I apologize

draw a pigeon elevator
I can make this work, change the pigeons into furries and the grain grinder into a giant anthro's gullet and you basically have a modeSeven piece

It's hard to say what's going on in the picture. The articles say that it's pigeons getting sucked into a "grain grinder" in Russia. But ... these are British tabloids like Daily Mail citing Russian tabloid press. It's not a very reliable set of sources.

https://www.rt.com/viral/362458-pigeons-mill-russia-video/

Also, this source in RT says the video was taken by a member of the public who snuck into the factory. If the factory in question was in fact regularly grinding pigeons up into bread I'm sure there would have been more news stories that just this video.

EDIT: I also suspect that actual grain-grinding machines would have a sieve on the input so that larger things don't fall into the grinder, such as rats (or rat droppings) etc. You'd expect the grain to fall onto the sieve, which vibrates and lets grain through, but not anything larger. This would just be common sense for how you construct a machine like that. If anything except grain gets into the grinder you could potentially damage the machine (metal tools etc). It wouldn't make a lot of sense to just have a bottom-less pit that grinds grain and lets things the size of pigeons in there, too.

That makes sense. I mean if that's what the grain tube looks like surely there are birds there every single day, if they were being crunched up that would probably be unacceptable contamination, in the sense that you just wouldn't be able to hide it.

But with the catching of the birds, you get grains AND pigeon. Is good deal ya?
