DF Suggestions forum sometimes feels like more of a troll-feeding ground than actually a suggestions forum.

Wait, that's actually a DF General Discussion thread.

If you didn't notice, I've already edited the post to correct myself.

I do stand by the opinion of Suggestions forum being... troll-y sometimes.

That's because people are pulling in different directions. This leads to arguments and the occasional locked thread.

I love how when Forumites sense a troll or bot, we gather around in a circle and either feed the troll til he bursts or talk to the bot like it was a real human.

I love that this reminded me of an XKCD which I didn't remember was an XKCD.

I miss the days when Toady had the time and desire to admin-edit bot posts and completely reinterpret them in a humorous fashion...

We'd gather around bot threads like giddy children, waiting and watching for the edit to come.

Apparently there's a cocktail called "Division Bell"... I had no idea.

In an unrelated "huh?", I present this handy list of recommendations I stumbled upon:
Quote from: 33 Games Like SimEarth
  • Dungeon Keeper 2
  • Populous: The Beginning
  • Sid Meier's Colonization
  • The Sims: Castaway Stories
  • Diggles: The Myth of Fenris
  • Sacrifice
And many more!

Hrm, I assume it's because the type of gamer (like me) who grew up on Sim Earth is predisposed to all of those games, enough to find them out and love them.
Except I don't know "Castaway Stories" specifically, I went Sims 2/3.
And I never got around to playing Diggles.

Sacrifice, that specific Populous (the original is a lot less cool than The Beginning), ... DK2, not 1?  Interesting, they're both strong.
And SM:Colonization is such a unique twist on the TBS 4X, and very early on.

Sim Earth is that game where you have no idea what any of this science shit means but you crank up the surface albedo to see if it makes crabs.

It also recommended Miitopia, Celtic Village Heroes (some generic click-and-wait mobile game), and something called Planetoid 3D... Which, as of the compilation of that list, is apparently impossible to attain outside of contacting one of the original devs and hoping for the best.

Pop:TB is also erroneously listed as just "Populous" (quite possibly just a screenshot mixup, as there's a listing for a game called "Artificial Life" that instead shows an image of someone playing Sweden in what looks like it might be Civ 3), and there are of course 5 different variations of Spore.

Diggles was neat, sort of a side-view Dwarf Fortress, with just as much tantrum spiraling and horrible item management as that would infer. It even had quantum stockpiles!

I recieved a phonecall. A slovakian number, so I was prepared to tell whoever it was that they probably have the wrong number.

But when I announced myself, I noticed that the other side already started speaking. In czech. And it was a machine telling me some advertisement about green energy.

So this is what teleadvertisment has come to. Calling people over borders, probably at their expense.

Sim's Castaways is a stand-alone thing where you're washed up on a desert island and gotta make everything to survive from scratch. Main difference is you can't buy stuff, you need to craft it and/or trade for resources with other stranded sims.
