The difficulty of Dark Souls is a facet that turns some individuals off (and gets the nipples of others right perky), not a 'problem'. Poor translations, binoculars being a useful speedrunning tool, tumble-buffing, and connectivity issues are problems. Difficulty is a design choice that will always leave a bad taste in somebody's mouth, a dilemma.

It's like saying the problem with a sex worker catering to people with hypoxyphilia is that they strangle people too much. It is true that more people would find the sex worker 'accessible' if they did a bit less strangling, but then hypoxyphiliacs get left limp/dry. There is no single perfect difficulty, only a choice of which demographic you intend to disappoint.

The beauty of pyromancy is that you can do both. No stats needed. And any build that deals lots of damage can benefit from Power Within making that damage even greater.

I like learning the moves of bosses. Trying to do so while it spawn fucking leprous dogs to nip at me and poison me however is not okay.

I was at the store today, and saw one of the pre-sliced packaged cheese abominations that I hadn't noticed before. "Jalapeņo and Habanero" it claimed, with hip artistic photoshoot backdrop and an image of a taste-o-meter with the needle perilously close to dropping off the high end of the scale and a helpful hint stating "ALSO PERFECT FOR GRILLED CHEESE!".

Jalapeņo and Habanero, you say? In this country? The land where the truly adventurous try sprinkling some black pepper on their potatoes? The place where official complaints get lodged against pizzerias because they use garlic and it's polluting the neighborhood? Curious, I picked up a pack and decided to see just how much of this actually spicy pepper they'd included in the cheese. "Heh, it's probably, like, half a percent or something" I joked to myself, in my head (I am a boring person).

0.1% habanero. A tenth of a percent. This is some goddamn homeopathic cuisine right here.


All in all, the cheese is a fairly standard pepper jack. Except it's not jack, so it has even less flavor. Gotta love Norway.

Immigrants. They come into this country, bringing their strange and bizarre culture involving spices and actual vegetables, setting up specialist grocery stores to tend to the needs of the Forner xenoedit population.

Also setting up fusion restaurants that don't really serve anything and aren't even related to the country of the people working there, but are considered authentic because the staff are brown. Most of the poor bastards are so traumatized by Norwegian tastes that you need to go through a whole nudge-wink routine to get the good stuff.

Yes, I actually want it to be spicy. Yes, I know what a lentil is. Yes, I know what part of the cow that's from, and I'm fine with it. Please no ranch dressing.


For comparison, my full-blooded Norwegian grandmother cannot eat raw onion, because it is too spicy.
