It doesn't harm us now, but it does mean they'll spend more time on that tat than actual content because there's easy money down that path.

Apparently PuBG mobile is surprisingly good, going off what I've been told by friends who play both it and the PC version.
I also quite liked that game where you tapped the screen to jump over things. Man, that was some dang fine videogamin' right thar.

I'd say that War for the Overworld is DK2's successor, even despite its at times dubious pacing and the stuttering/chunking framerate.

But instead, it's just niche, without so much fun. Last I checked they'd completely borked the trap system, magic was worthless outside of the two healing spells (and horribly expensive to do anything with), and the new upgrade system was such utter ass that you either got lucky AND used the one singular tech progression that was in any way useful, or you simply got stuck and couldn't progress further.

And permawhipping imps is now a thing, somehow.

My main beef is not that it's a mobile game, plenty of good ones out there (even if the vast majority is skinner box bullshit sucking cash out of people). The issue stems from the fact that you have one of the biggest RTS franchises to date, one that arguably kicked off the entire genre into popularity, that spanned several series each with their own gems like Red Alert, Tiberium and Generals. One which had a horrible hack job of a last game with C&C4 (a repurposed game for the Chinese market, with a slapped on story done purely to recoup some of the money sunk into it) and nothing since.

And now, instead of maybe trying to revive or reimagine the whole thing they go full Konami with it. I never particularly liked EA, but this move puts them safely into the greedy scum of the earth basket for me.

Also, as far as DK goes, Dungeons is pretty ok, it's not a perfect copy but you can't really have an unchanged formula for that long. The humor can be cringe-inducingly forced at times but the gameplay itself is pretty solid.

As for Dungeons, I've only played Dungeons 2, where they trashed the original gameplay concepts they decided on for 1, because 1 got shitty ratings for trying to market itself as being DK2 while not being at all DK2, and decided to instead be exactly WC3 and DK2, since that's clearly what the public wanted.

It's not great.

I own both Dungeons games (1 because I believed the box, 2 because it was free), and while 1 was a steaming pile of false advertising, 2 was pretty OK. Not great, not even all that good, but OK.

This is a binary choice. These are rare. Enjoy it. Don't blow it by being indecisive.
