Or the smug metacommentary about the commentary.

I will stick with the lack of introspection as a major factor though.  Failing to ask the question "Is this fear justified?" is how a lot of paranoid delusions start.

I actually have one. Shes a good girl. Refuses to sleep outside except on the hottest summer nights, but we leave the doors open in the summer anyway. They wont stay out during the winter, but they wake us up sometimes

What about self-maintaining AI robots to autonomously keep the cyotes in check?
Runs afoul of "Man-trap" laws.

https://definitions.uslegal.com/b/booby-traps/

Farmer Joe is not interested in going to jail, because the neighbor kid wandered close to the creek, and had 20 sentry guns auto target and open fire.  Many dont even set live traps for this reason, and if they do, they monitor them very closely.

Also issues with training the AI to recognize coyotes in a variety of conditions, and theres the issue of it shooting someone.

Investing in some kind of alarm thing (sound or otherwise something non-lethal) could also work, but theres the issue of maintaining them (especially if the area is large) and depending on the device, the coyotes getting used to them once they figure out that it's harmless.

I've heard dogs do well at stopping predators from eating sheep
The most common eater of sheep are dogs

The dogs guarding the sheep shouldn't be eating the sheep, if they are, you're doing something terribly wrong.

... Yeah, and the most common killers of humans are other humans. Doesn't really stop us from staffing our military primarily with people.

One does not simply grab a random dog and go: 'You are guard dog now'.* This leads to incredibly confused yorkies. A stray cur is not a herding dog. A herding dog is not a guardian dog.** A guardian dog is not a herding dog.

*Caveat: You can sort of do this in the short term if the dog is well separated from the sheep, very loud, and the predators aren't terribly smart.

**Caveat 2: Again, usually. Good herders usually have a vicious streak that makes them unsuitable to leave around sheep.

Indeed, that sounds like a pretty good reason to put humans in charge of the military.

The most common killer of human is actually heart disease.
That means we need to staff our military with piles of diseased hearts!

The military works because they're humans, and thus well able to kill the humans that are good at killing us, humans. Disembodied hearts are not good at killing other disembodied hearts, or humans for that matter.
What matters here is not quality of deadliness, but the fact that the deadly thing is the same thing as the deaded thing.

Regarding sheep defense, has anyone considered guard llamas?

It is?
It's not. Keep your blade sharp and your enemies afraid.

The depths of internet lunacy never cease to amaze me.

Found a guy that thinks that should a fusion reactor fail, rather than instantly cool to near room temperature, it would trigger an explosion that would destroy half the Earth and irradiate the other half to destruction. Someone linked an article from a nuclear physicist, and he accused them of just seeking funding. So far as I can tell, they aren't a troll, they're actually that insane.

A sufficient amount of antimatter could do that.

You understand that fusion reactors don't actually produce antimatter, right?
