Someplace I'd seen on TV but don't have locally. The Cheesecake factory. I exepected two pages of cheesecakes, two or three pages of entrees, and two pages of drinks and appetizers. The menu (about the size of a typical novel, with maybe 10 point font) was thicker than my allest finger.
Strangely, the one near me has a tiny menu. No more than 6 laminated, half-width pages. Lots of empty space around the text. The cheesecakes are an incomplete selection, less than half a page on the very back. There are a lot of cheesecakes on display at the entrance, but they're not listed on the menu.

Food is good, but there's not a huge selection. It's located right next to a marina, so you can see a bunch of docked boats.

Re: Menus. There's a Korean restaurant not that far from where I live that has exactly one item on the menu. A fried pork cutlet meal set. You got there to order that or its no food for you

That's an extremely specialist restaurant for sure.

I know that menus were first introduced in some Paris restaurants in the late 1800s...I wonder what it was like before that? You just show up and get whatever the chef made that day?

Cursory research tells me that it was buffet style. Or 'whatever the tavern had in the stew pot that day' type of deal

The rain was cold, huh?  I hope you have a warm drink, if that's your sort of thing.

Late to the 40K thing:  I personally like the Imperium's take on gender, which is pretty much no take.  It's nice to see a horrific dystopia where people don't waste even more resources on sexism.  It's just not a thing.

The Space Marines (which one in a billion people might ever actually see- the scale here is absurd) are narratively all male because they're battle-monks.  Sororitas are female because they're battle-nuns.  There are shaky in-universe explanations, of course, but that's why.  They're also both seriously mindscrewed and implanted.  More implants for the monks, mindscrew for the nuns.

Actual human men and women work or take up arms according to their individual ability, as it should be.
EgoQueenAlexis had a long but surprisingly good video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2QgQBSlZW8
I say surprisingly, because she used to buddy-buddy with ArchWarhammer, who's a dicknozzle...  Well, I was pleasantly surprised.

They gave me my old task back at work, which is to sort the racks of clothing before they get sent out, so the people rolling them don't have to walk back and forth. Now I can go back to what complaining about what I normally complain about, which is the lack of attention others pay to their work, constantly ignored safety procedures, and the constant abrasion of the folds of skin around my fingernails.

Walked in a storm for an hour. Hands are super dead. Also hair is fucked up

Sounds like the storm I'm sitting in right now. When my mom had the window open a crack to smoke a cigarette while driving, I, sitting in the passenger seat, was getting hit in the face with rain. That's how horizontally it was falling.

A cracked car window is really good a making bizarre airflows, actual rain direction notwithstanding.

You guys are missing out though. The snowstorm we had yesterday was probably best measured in weight of snow, not depth.  I probably brushed... let's see estimating, 3 meters by 2 meters by 0.1 meters gives 600 liters, so probably close to 300 pounds of snow off my car in order to leave work.

(And yes, I do brush off my roof.  A pox to all those who don't!)

Random side WTF: my 2-year-old is now enamored with Blippi.   How is that guy so popular!?

2 months isn't that long.  Personally, I'd much rather go through 2 months of unpleasant employment versus 2 months of unpleasant job searching.  And it sounds like you made a good impression on your old employer?

I guess it depends on Trueans financial situation?

Anyone else here imagine Tru as working for some top-secret government intelligence organisation, and what sound like office disputes are actually information heists, gunfights and semi-legal executions?

Nah, that would be too easy for her.
