Last week Firefox warned me that it was critically out of date. Now my plugins have started silently failing. Flash stopper doesn't stop videos from auto-playing. Ad blocker has started letting full-screen background ads through.

All of my plugins are still incompatible with Firefox Quantum, so still no update for me.
And now my display driver has started failing...

What's with that grey text? You know you can just use [color=transparent], right?

Then almost nobody will read it. It's meant to be just barely visible on the default theme.

I know that was intended to be serious, but think about that critically...

Chrome is made by Google; the people who are, aside from facebook, the world leaders on selling eyeballs to advertisers.

Getting chrome, so that you can EVADE having your eyeballs sold...  that is some kind of WTF in and of itself, in a twisted sort of way.

Firefox has "browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab=false". Chrome has... yeah... no. I tried an add-on, and it was just a sort of weird workaround.

I dunno. I would have taken that over what I got to enjoy over dinner as a child.

Mom was a unique individual, and would discuss forensic pathology (Including dating time of death of an old corpse by the number of larval instars present in the tissue, amongst other things), veterinary medicine, and a wealth of other topics that make normal people violently heave over, while Dad, bless his heart-- would frequently rail about the illuminati, the builderbergers, planet nibiru, and a wealth of other end of the world topics, sometimes with the occasional foray into explosives manufacture, blinding techniques, how to set (and detect) anti-personnel mines and other traps, and other such lovely topics.

Now, given that environment, I am quite pleased with how semi-normal I turned out in the end.

The volume settings on children's toys. I think that has come up in these forums before.  There should be a regulation on maximum allowable dB.

Feature request on kids toys:

Universal keyed (as in, there is a universal key) potentiometer to control volume on children's toys.

(basically a volume knob that can only be changed with said key-- parents have the key on their key ring. Allows parents to set volume to zero, and leave it there, if they so choose.)
