It wouldn't be that improbable for the Dutch to have invented it. After all, we were the major colonial trade company in spices and other foreign foods for centuries. Dutch had colonies in South America way before the States existed.
Similar to coffee. Research recently showed that 95% of all coffee plants in south America can be traced back to a single line of coffee plant created by crossbreeding in Amsterdam's hortus botanicus. (And exported back out to the colonies, because, better yield). We're also still the biggest chocolate producer in the world (well, we import the cacao, but still). Small country, long and rich world trade history.

Not quite a WTF, but it sorta fits and apparently there isn't a proper nervous thread.

Decided to bite the bullet and try forming a DnD group today... with surprisingly positive results. Six or seven people are interested right off the bat, probably enough to run a game even if half of them end up dropping out.

The nervous/WTF is the constant worry that I am saying/doing something wrong in the planning stages (by which I mean scheduling etc). It was really, really nice to see people signing on to this thing. I'm really worried I'm going to ruin it by being an anxious buffoon.

Yep, Voobly is running strong. As much as the launch was bungled, the HD re-release and new expansions really brought some attention back-the scene never really went away, but basically the entire generation of people that played AoK/AoC back in the day got the memo that it was still being actively played online.

Yep. Basically it works like this: Persians have more health on their Town Center. The Persian Douche is an all-in Dark Age rush where the Persian player quickly gathers res, deletes their starting TC and builds one within range of the other player's, garrisons all their villagers in it, and uses that extra HP to win the TC war. If it succeeds, the other player is massively set back (and maybe even stuck without the resources to rebuild their TC), but if it fails (usually because it was scouted before the Persian TC went up) the Persian player is fucked.

I mean, yeah, I just wasn't aiming to go on a tirade. Doesn't change the fact that it brought a lot more attention (and overpowered civs lul) to AoC.

I'm in Ireland, here it's called Secondary School. It covers six years of education, and goes straight from 6th class in prinary school to the first year of college.
