Curious question:

Are the opponents you have played against in the same league/group, and or-- the same person?

If so, maybe your opponent has found a clever way to issue an SQL injection to "easybutton win" games they are losing to inflate their win score.

Checking the game log, it turns out there were 0 cards left in my deck, which is a lose condition. Needs to be some kind of indication on results screen. Very confusing.

If you had cards left to play (because you had cards to perform a turn), then this is clearly an incorrect condition.

I would test to see if their server sanitizes inputs from clients, as this is an obvious thing to send back-- "Opponent has zero cards" (Oh, look! INSTANT WIN! TROLORLOLOLOL)

What? Losing as soon as your deck is empty is as old as TCGs. In M:tG, if you would draw a card but your deck is empty, you lose instantly. In Hearthstone, you take damage, adding an extra point every time you try to draw. It's the time limiting condition on a game.

Not what I meant.  Of course IF YOU CANNOT TAKE A TURN BECAUSE YOUR DECK IS EMPTY, YOU WILL LOSE. that is a no brainer.

In this case though, Bumber says they were poised to take the victory, meaning they were able to take a turn, meaning their deck was of necessity, NOT EMPTY.

Uh. I don't think he said anything specifically about it happening in mid turn. If he was poised to strike a final blow, that could imply it was the start of the turn, and in fact it sorta strongly does imply that. So, his turn starts, about to win, it checks to see if he has cards in deck, he doesn't, boom ded.

Tinfoil hats are a total conspiracy though. Their paraboloidic shape works to focus incoming mind-rays straight into your brain. What you want is a tinfoil full-body suit. Or basically a Faraday cage all around your body.

I remind you sir, that science has firmly established the existence of both nosebleeds AND of idiots, but has yet to give even a single shred of falsifiable theory concerning psychic phenomena.

Now, I am not implying that Hans is an idiot, but rather that idiots tend to get them more frequently, and what works for them will surely work for him as well.
