So, playing openxcom Final Mod Pack. I am stuck with research, even though according to the research tree that came with it, I should be able to research alien data slate (I have 5 of them.)

So I decided to look into the mod's research.rul file. Turns out, that you need to research alien electronics first, unlike what the research tree says.

Also turns out that the modder was a troll and to research alien electronics, you need to research trollium, a research which does not exist.

Koalas? No, but they can't adapt to changes in their environment very well at all; they're happy to eat eucalyptus leaves that are on a tree, but present them with a branch from that same tree and they just sorta look agog at it; "that's not food!". Their brains are lissencephalic (lacking in surface convolutions, usually a sign of a primitive animal) and have about the smallest brain:body size ratio of any mammal.

Because free electricity/performance is something people will always respond to. And people associate (fairly rightly) renewables with free power. While people reason that anything involving coal or oil must have a catch.

See also quantum zero-point energy extraction scams. There actually is energy lurking around in vacuum, we just can't use it. And a lot of other Quantum stuff because the word sounds sciency.


Green technology, or more specifically renewables, seems a lot less exclusively the domain of the liberal left these days, partly because free energy is, and seems like, such a damn good idea. For example, Trump's solar powered wall that dispenses free soup to unemployed Mexicans, or China's massive focus on renewables.
