Short version: total weight of the entire truck+load must be 80,000 lbs or less. In addition, each axle on your rig must not exceed a certain weight (12,000 for the front (steer) axle, 34,000 each for the middle and rear axles). My rear axle turned out to be 36,600 lbs, so despite my total weight being well within the limit (72k or so) I still get ticketed for exceeding axle weight.

I can't imagine the company *not* compensating you for that, or I'd suggest you find another company, because that is completely out of your hands. How would you know or fix it? It's not like you can just dump half the load somewhere, it's your (and the company's) job to transport it.

Whatever they did, they broke something. I've been having massive mobile lag and desktop weirdness all day, not using any flash.

Par for the course with Youtube's shit-tier site management.

Mm. Maybe it'll clear up in a few days, then. Sorta' looks like it's just somethin' weird, since I just managed to get one vid running with flash while another utterly refuses to load the player.

Will say, though, not looking forward to whenever they get around to completely disabling the functionality. HTML5 video playback is complete and utter shit -- like, literally worse performance and quality than embedded realplayer on dialup two decades ago -- at the absolute least on this computer, so if it ends up being limited to that, I end up being unable to use the ruddy website.

so i've got these files on a flash drive, and to mount the flash drive, i had to use sudo/root, which means all the files on the flash drive belong to root, and given that i'm giving this flash drive to someone on a mac, i don't want that

tryin'a fix that with a sudo chown, except that i'm not permitted to modify these files as ROOT so that root does not own these files. I am literally GOD in this machine and this little warty nugget of a directory decides it does not want to respect mah authoritah but wants to pretend it belongs to GOD anyways.

Bitch, please. You know sudo rm -rf /? I can do that. You know sudo chown -R user directory/? I should be able to do that. Get in line before I burn your house down.

Sometimes the super user (sudo) is denied, but actual ROOT (su) will succeed.

What filesystem is on the device? Is it formatted with EXT3/4 ??
Is it FAT?  Is it NTFS?  Something else?

FAT does not have per-user permissions!!  It will work just fine on another box.  Try it and see!

Yeah, for non-linux filesystems, the permissions are set on the mount point, and can't be changed for individual files.

Do you really want to try watching vintage VHS tapes?  Sure, DVD cases can often be convinced to live inside VHS drawers, but it is an imperfect fit. Also, furniture on the corner has a bad habit of being the home of... "critters".
