Thing is, can we really call such a thing journalism at all? Is finding someone and threatening them over a political joke a thing a major news outlet should do? They even proudly reported about the thing as it if were a normal and acceptable practice.

I'd say it is worse.  Doxxing would be journalism, this is just... reporting on something aggressive that CNN itself did.  If they wanted to go all the way and doxx the guy at least there'd be a (bad) argument in their defense.

Also, reminds me of the time that the guy who created the Red Pill subreddit was doxxed and revealed to be a politician in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.  That was a weird day.

They literally didn't, obviously.  They identified the user, and contacted him, but didn't release his info.

Well, yeah, because instead of being arguably a case of overzealous journalism it turns into threatening someone never to disagree with CNN again, which is pretty clearly worse.

Oh, did he disagree with CNN?  I just remember him making a GIF of them being beat up.

Though...  They are basically threatening him, yeah:

CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

Which is kinda disturbing, gotta be honest.  But it's also very public.  If he does merely "disagree" with them and they doxx him, *then* they'll be the bad guys.  (And he'll be in company with the President, who of course refuses to apologize, and a martyr among his MAGA buddies).

They did all the legwork and then withheld it to try and coerce him into apologizing and not making any more memes about them. Same process, same intent, but honestly even scummier.

I was googling a release date for "The Winds of Winter"   and suddenly I decided to google how long it took Cervantes to write 'The Quixote"

It took him one year to write the first part.  When he went for the sequel a few years later, it took him two years.
And that's writing it by hand with a fucking quill.

If you ask me GRRM lost control of the plot at least two books ago and has a huge writer´s block. He´s also probably kind of lazy but that's neither here nor there.
