It's not just rude, it's an explicit threat to people's peace, safety, livelihood and even life. Its revealing who someone is to thousands or more people who are hostile towards them. In the case of CNN, that number is likely hundreds of thousands or even millions.

It should be noted that CNN graciously restrained themselves from actually doxxing him, though, settling for only thrwatwnunf to do so instead.
