Is it making a sort of "Br-r-r-r-r-ooow" noise?

Because that's a cat's mating call from my experience.

Funnily enough, that is the noise my flatmates make most nights, usually at around three in the morning. There are also loud whoops, bestial cries, and various other things more suited to the worship of Dionysus than our more secular existence. Picturing them being in heat is probably, disturbingly, accurate as well.

Snuggles the mouse almost died of a heroin overdose, but thanks to Vancouver's safe injection sites and a hard working health worker, he was given Narcan and lived.   

Man, that was actually really heartwarming. I was expecting it to be some sort of angry satire criticising the government for "wasting" money funding such things as safe injection sites catering to the "dregs of society" or some such bullshit, but that was just nice all 'round.

The emoji movie is going to be like Monsters Inc, or Wreck it Ralph ... but better. Just wait for the Emoji craze.

The emoji movie will have a timeless quality to it, it speaks to generations of human experience.

Emoji movie is SOOO close to being paint by numbers that it edges close to being a parody.

They got it right by having "Meh" be the hero. Now there's a decision that's going to come back to meh them on the ass.

Ah, yes, that film. Whenever I come to hear of it, I think of those incredibly unsettling child molestation adverts from the Innocence en Danger network. Well, correction, they do not advertise for molestation, of course. What they have done is to alter photographs of unpleasant characters to look like emoji figures, to great effect. I merely thought about them, and now I want to wash myself.
In my mind, that has become the true face of emoji culture. The film, however, is too bland and insipid an entity to even evoke that sensation. It is merely a study in greed and mental sloth, or perhaps more aptly, a study in spontaneous generation. It is what happens when certain elements (pop culture, current trends, far too much money, trademark building and bloody buggery minions) lies about and rot, in this case in the fertile environment that is a board room.

The making of those sorts of movies might be not far off those trainwreck criminal court cases that basically everyone involved agrees shouldn't have continued, but it does anyway because no one person can pull the plug.

Similarly, so many people are involved in a movie studio, and it's agreed they have to release something in a specific time frame that is for a specific target demographic, and so many people's employment is relying on it, so there's no one person who can say "hey this idea stinks" and pull the plug once the ball is rolling.

Other stuff that would similarly seem to be part of the mill now would be Aquaman-tier superheroes and Lego Batman movies. What's next? Lego Harry Potter the movie?

There is a clear reason why the Emoji movie is being made... Because Lego Movie made money.

Look at just how freeken much they borrow from other movies and even the Lego Movie.

Say what I will about the Troll movie... it impressed me with how not terrible it was.

It seems to have a ton of Wreck It Ralph in there too, though I haven't seen Lego movie (yet) to compare it. I'm guessing it's because of Lego, Ralph and probably that Adam Sandler movie Pixels (which I will never watch).

Add Emoji Movie to the list of 3D animated films I will never watch.

Also, basing the whole film on current-gen tech how it's used now seems like a really bad strategy for longevity. Those three other movies I mentioned all work on nostalgia. Howabout we make The Facebook Movie next?

Indeed, as for comparison. The Female lead is basically their attempt to clone the female lead from The Lego movie... with slight alterations.

Though to be honest she almost comes off as the Girl from "Rainy with a chance of meatballs" to me... just with a different veneer.

Emoji Movie sounds like something where the characters communicate entirely in emojis, or all of the characters are emojis.
