Was he, perhaps, of Carthaginian descent and named accordingly?

By the by

Saying "No offense" doesn't actually make what you say "Not offensive".

You should only be using it if what you are saying could normally be construed as an insult, badgering, or what have you.

For example "No offense but your a wreck" when someone looks like they walked through a disaster zone. That can work.

"No offense but you are ugly" when someone looks slightly disheveled... Yeah probably not going to work.

Since it is possible nowadays to have a pig grow human organs inside it, using stemcell transplantation, I guess we're only a few crazy investors away from serving human bacon that did not involve humans dying.
I know this conversation was intended humorously, but this actually makes me really fucking mad.
Not going to try and start an argument over it, but I really hate this whole double-standard of it not being "okay" to eat humans in any circumstance, but it's perfectly fine to breed and grow an entire species for use purely as meat, and in this extreme even genetically modifying them to make whatever kind of meat you want.

Just saying, if I ever get the chance to eat human flesh I would most likely jump at it, just to do my duty as a vegetarian.
The inevitable "WTF even is meat" bowel explosions would be worth it to prove a point.

Pus is actually kinda tasty.
W-wwhat?
As I mentioned in the Happy Thread last night, I burnt my mouth whilst eating a delicious, delicious pie at the same time as walking.
The blister, being in an awkward location in my mouth and having a pleasantly strange texture to it, was subject to a great deal of poking and pressure from my tongue, causing it eventually to burst. ...On second thoughts, is the stuff in a newly-formed blister actually pus, or just some miscellaneous fluid? Obviously I could google this, but I'm not that desperate to know and I'd rather ask here.

The stigma with human meat is more from the whole 'you'll get incurable prion-diseases from it, and they will dissolve your brain slowly and painfully', than from humans being squeamish about eating each other. It happens. A lot. It's just bad for you.

And I think it's probably pus or interstitial fluid. Which is basically pus.

Prions are a myth.

I'd still be pretty tempted to eat peoples if given an honest opportunity.  Im far more concerned with the social stigma and the cleanliness of the people I turning into puppy chow than so invisible denatured proteins what just want an equal chance at life.  Stupid virus is considered alive but naked protein is not?

I want you, for the love of all that is good, to consider why merely eating flesh that is similar in makeup to your own is going to make you denature into an ash monster.  I've got a book about how masturbation makes you go blind if you think the chances of catching random mutations from eating flesh are that high.  overblown

I will now watch as you all get every disease that the person happened to have. Civilized cannibals cremate and drink their ancestors.

Why not, I catch every flu virus they have, and they go around touching everything with their grubby hands.

Virus' are not considered Alive.

Is this no longer open to debate?

To my knowledge it counts as more of a biological machine.

Unless they discovered that Viruses have more properties than we once knew (which to admit is possible) I am not sure where the debate can go.

Well... I mean biological as in Organic. Made from biological components.

Like if you made a car engine out of wood.

Also here is a WTF

Those Stereotypical Chinese clothes? ARE REAL!?! like... people wear them... today.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And I mean in China. I know in the West a sort of Asian Blend is quite popular and for good reason.

That... is apt, though not for reasons you would think.

Yeah like if you took planks of wood and built it into the shape of a tree.

Err, no. Neon is right.

Viruses miss several critical criteria necessary to be alive. The most often cited of which is a reproductive apparatus.

They're an odd beast, and their classification is a bit of a technicality.

Yeah, I am sure if the definition of "Alive" came out after Viruses were discovered it MIIIGHT be a bit different.

Though thinking of them as non-living organisms is kind of cool. It isn't like Pluto (though I like its current status as a planetoid)
