One of my friends just bought No Man's Sky.

Was it despite the warning, or because of its absence?

Pornhub, after the sex ed thing, are now sending out snowplows.

I'm beginning to wonder if libertarians are right. At this rate we're going to wind up with Pornhub doing policework.
I'll take it over what we've got now.

Not with the Charlemagne DLC, they aren't. Pushes the game all the way back to 769.

Well... it kind of still does. Given that plea bargains are typically taken based on how the trial goes.

Plea Bargains are basically a game of chicken and tend to favor the guilty over the innocent as it is (which is why in some places... Plea Bargains are made illegal.. which had the unusual unheard of consequence of the police doing a better job at crime scene investigation... No idea why)

And the actual damages you face to your life if you lose are determined by what charges with mandatory minimums the prosecutor chooses to throw at you.  This is before and independent of the actual adjudication of the case, and the case usually is never even tried if the consequences of losing are terrifying enough to the defendant.

Mandatory minimums take the decision making power essentially away from the judge and jury.

I'm well aware of why plea bargaining is, at this point, an indispensable part of the criminal justice system, as it would essentially collapse if every single minor case had to get a full trial, but it's impossible to ignore the ultimate cost in terms of justice, especially for innocent defendants.  Guilty defendants get lighter punishments than they deserved, but innocent defendants (as few as they may be) get terrorized into pleading guilty to things they aren't guilty of, and mandatory minimums have a lot to do with that.

Quote
My favorite is that often these groups will discount how, you know, the actual minorities feel and project onto them. If the minorities complain? Well it is because they are brainwashed.

They're usually not quite that crude in language.  If a woman disagrees with them, it's "internalized misogyny" or "internalized racism" if it's a minority group member.

It's ok, I'm sure there's someone here in the US willing to help them understand what they should be ethnically upset by.

Ok I am going to give honestly my biggest WTF of today that won't be topped. I even considered whether or not I should put it here because it is disturbing... but ehh

Anyhow... so I was watching this dog video

The video is of this horribly abused dog, like, never in its life was it touched except to be abused. We don't see the abuse instead we just see someone petting the dog (to get it used to being pet) as the dog frantically yelps in almost pain and pure terror... and this goes on for like a minute.

I am just reminded of those old experiments where they basically raised monkeys with absolutely no contact whatsoever. Then in childhood or adulthood they just cannot handle physical interaction.

THANKFULLY... It also does a time skip to when the dog is well adjusted and happy...

---

I am also reminded of a video where someone was yelling about someone's motivations in some anime... That if they were intensely lonely then they should be desperate for a friend ANY friend.

And... well... The thing about human beings (and animals) is that the opposite is also true.

---

In otherwords my WTF is about the fragility of the wellbeing of your own mind... and seeing it torn to shreds and watching how someone or something acts under that condition... How every movement shows the scars they have received.

Would be able to elaborate on that? I don't exactly know what you're referring to here.

Humans often "seemingly" act contrary to their desires ESPECIALLY the more they require it.

Someone who is extremely lonely might be desperate and cling to everyone (often to the point they push everyone away)... But they might also be extremely aloof and push people away never letting people get close.

I don't think in that case they would be pushing people away because they are lonely, I think that person would be lonely because they are pushing people away.
