Was a bit slippery with M64, iirc (little too easy to land places and then just kinda' tip over), more than floaty jumps, and your critter was occasionally a bit overeager in regards to turning. Swimmy-bits were kinda' nasty, too, and some plain glitchy stuff with a few moves (wall jumping could get you in odd places, even if you weren't intentionally trying to break things).

Control wise was still one of the better PSX/N64 era platformers, though, heh. Wasn't perfection by any means but they did pretty damn good for a game that early in the system's life cycle. Particularly from the actual playing part of it -- game was designed (intentionally or not) so in most places the rough edges to the controls wasn't going to really punish or frustrate you, too much. There were some exceptions (friggin' moving platform cloud world thing, swimming in general), but at least the game had the decency to make most of those pretty late.

Nintendo Switch cartridges taste awful. I have no idea what prompted the first person to try and eat theirs, but Nintendo coats every Nintendo Switch cartridge with a bittering agent.

Did enough people swallow DS/3DS cartridges for this to be a problem? Did some engineer at Nintendo, enraged to hear of yet another gobbled game, put their foot down and say "No more!"

You've heard of 4 year olds, right? Even if they're not playing with the console, they'll still stick a small piece of plastic laying around (or sometimes not laying around but hidden away) into their mouth, and those look small enough to be swallowed.

Plus, some older kids who WOULD play with it, still might put it in their mouth.

Yeah, pretty much that. Good kinda' low key feature to have if you're substantially targeting families as a market, and pretty much all console makers do.

... I don't recall SNES or gameboy carts tasting particularly good, either, tbh. There was a period in my younger days when I occasionally gnawed on unusual things just for the sake of chewing on them.

I tried loading XP from a usb but its not doing it?  Thats how I Virtual Machine, right?

Get VirtualBox from Oracle, it's free. You can install OS's in that. The process is the exact same process as putting the original OS on a machine, get an image of the CD etc, then point your virtual machine at the image as it's CD drive, then run the installer.

And also make sure to set up your resource allocation sensibly. No reason to do a 50-50 split on a modern machine to run a decades-old OS in VB.
