Copypaste from EU thread:
In other news, the head of the swedish "ambulance union" is asking that body armor and helmets be provided for paramedics because they're often exposed to violence (up to and including fucking hand grenades) and that no-go zones are very much a reality for them.
O.o
To quote Trump, what the hell is going on over there?
Prbbly the only time I've ever 100% agreed with what trump's said. Can anyone shed real light on this?
Meatball News, on the case. Brief summary in the EU-thread. Briefer summary still: paramedics are requesting special equipment and aid because of an increasingly dangerous work environment. One of the reasons is (as often) the loose gangs of young whorepups in the disturbed suburb districts that have expanded their rock throwing scheme from the police to emergency response crew in general. Not widely reported
quelle surprise, but is not exactly unexpected.
Part of the reason is also that while crime has not done the apocalyptic sky-rocket that one might get an impression of (due to a combination of hysterical reporting and silence), there is a degree of violence and danger in it now that there was not an odd ten or so years ago. Encountering arms, hand-grenades and Devil knows what else is becoming more common, and there has not been an adjustment for it in the emergency service's equipment and tactics.
Brief-brief-brief: New conditions, quite bad indeed, original story victim of exaggeration, kingdom will probably be there tomorrow too.
