There is a good answer to this, and it's the Reaper's social engineering. The whole galactic system they established for the races of the Milky Way to live in is designed from the ground up to stifle innovation and permanently halt their cultural and military advancement, especially regarding things like the Mass Relays. The Asari and the Salarians have been around for literal thousands of years without substantial change, and the Turians are close as well. The only times the galaxy undergoes significant development after finding the Citadel is during mass crisis or when a new race appears. Humanity are but the latest in a chain of "innovative newcomers" who in time all fall into line with galactic norms and have that reputation forgotten. The Reapers invade before that has a chance to happen.
I can agree with technological stagnation, though I doubt the reapers bother with cultural stagnation, given the amount of variables there. Just so long as all the census data is on the citadel so they don't have to spend millennia hunting for that last fucking colony. :P

And arguably the asari are more responsible for gumming up the works in regards to stagnation, given their complacent attitudes towards things and their diplomatic power.

A few months ago, my parents demanded that I unplug my router and such every time I left the house. Now, they're demanding that I NOT unplug it, saying it uses more electricity than is saved in the 9-10 hours(at work) that it's unplugged to start it back up.

They've been reading uninformed pop-science articles. The continual-low-flow vs. startup spike is a favorite of fools and tabloid writers-but I repeat myself.

I've got HoMM3 installed on my tablet, so that's nice. I still am amazed at how far the handheld devices went, I remember there was time that one of computers I had couldn't run HoMM3 (and, to be honest, my current one can't run it as well since the graphics card broke :P).

No, it was an asshole cousin. Same difference, though.

I have a Samus Aran figure, from the "World of Nintendo" line by Jakks-Pacific. I just realized that the figure pictured on the box isn't even close to the actual thing. The figure on the back of the box has less detail, more articulation, and totally different colors. It also seems to be based on artwork from much earlier in the series whereas the figure itself more resembles Metroid Prime.

Maybe it'll be like that one Star Wars toy set that has the wrong figure and it'll inexplicably be worth millions of dollars some day.

OTOH, maybe Nintendo will make a good Metroid game again some day.

Man, the forum was down for ten hours?
I'm glad I was... asleep, or on a train, or just generally drunk. Wait, what time did this outage happen? I don't know. There's way too much stuff to catch up on in here. Not sure if I tried to access Bay12 during that time or not. Maybe my phone was flat. Oh, and I have a WTF of my own but I don't know what to think about it right now so I won't post about it..

In other words, when Toady was asleep and dreaming of ASCII sheep. Otherwise he would have rebooted the forums long before then.

Wait, HoMM3 requires a graphics card?

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

Youtube will remember my position in a three-minute long video I didn't even finish weeks ago, but will always set me at the beginning of an hours-long speedrun when I accidentally refresh the page.

Yeah, it's a really neat feature, but I really do wish that it was more consistent about actually working.

I believe it had to do with how your connection to the server was terminated and whether it was "official"/unofficial, if that makes any sense; I don't think refreshing counts as termination, necessarily, depending on how long it takes.
