More and more female elephants are being born with a genetic mutation that causes them to not grow any tusks.
Where in studies in the past, tuskless elephants made up about 2-6% of elephant populations, right now, in Gorongosa national park, Mozambique, 33% of all female elephants are born without tusks.

Biologists explain, that because poachers have only been shooting elephants with tusks, those elephants that don't have tusks survive and reproduce, spreading their tuskless gene through the population fast.
