Thing is, he wasn't related to her in any way, shape, or form.

At my old school one of the students suffered a medical complication (we were never told what it really was about) and died.

Not many people actually knew her in the school, heck even I didn't know... But most people were shaken up in some way.

What helps people deal with death so easily is deassociation... If you saw someone you didn't know, a complete stranger, drop dead infront of you... you wouldn't just walk away and eat a bag of popcorn watching a romantic comedy when you get home.

Weeeeellll. Certainly he's rude, but I sympathize somewhat. Suicide is a somewhat shocking thing, and finding humor in it isn't, that strange of a reaction. Certainly not one you should share. But... I sorta understand why he acts like that.

Yeah, joking about stuff like that should be left for when you know that the audience shares your sense of humor. Dark/gallows/foxhole/whatever else you want to call it humor is prevalent for a reason (other than that people are jerks). It's one way of coping with painful thoughts and realities. It's also why many of the most popular standup comics are also the ones with the darkest, sickest jokes. Ofc. it also has to actually be funny, otherwise you're just an edgy asshole.

Kid's problem is just that he doesn't have the maturity or wisdom to gauge the reaction of whoever he says it to/around from what he knows of them (or doesn't care that it's not going to go over well).

It could be a coping mechanism. Of course, a minor one, since he did not know her, but it's one way to approach what has happened. I tend to use dark humour for similar situations myself, but there is no reason to share it so openly, that is incredibly rude and respectless. Very, very poor manners.

It could be that he haven't ever been in or reflected about such a situation before, and can't quite handle it. Even though it's distant, it can still be a rather big shake-up if have never really encountered something like it before. Edge is one way to approach it, and if you are young and unsure how to handle it (or how to handle delicate situations in general), it's far too easy to fall back on it. It's still something that should be called out, however. It's simply not how one should behave in public. It's easy to resort to that sort of open, crude edgelording to handle things when you're young, but it's a habit that should be discouraged.

well, look on the bright side.  most people who dont know me are afraid of me.

Because I dont smile much, I have a piercing stare, Im large and muscled, my hair is long, I have a relatively dominant posture and attitude and I tend not to express emotion and seek social bonding.

So I mean, you got me there.  Its not all bad coping with loss by being a macabre thing.

Went to the doctor a little while ago. A few facts:

My mother has been secretly checking my urine after I go to the bathroom. Apparently, she thinks it's darker than it should be and I likely have diabetes. Getting bloodwork this weekend to prove that she's not a qualified doctor.

Since the last time I went to the doctor(quite a while) I've gained fifty pounds - I weigh 294lbs now. Holy shit. I'm taking steps to fix that right the hell now. Seeing a nutritionist is also on there.

Apparently, I'm wearing the wrong kind of socks, and it's messing with the skin on my legs. Not sure how that works. Seeing a dermatologist.

My blood pressure is good. Wee.

Cost of today's visit was significantly cheaper for my non-insured ass than I thought it would, $25. Next visits, with the bloodwork and specialists, probably a lot more. Glad I have money saved.

Yeah the water situation at our first home was a bit unorthodox.  For one thing, the pump wouldn't run when the power was out...  Carrying gallon jugs from the spring really teaches water-conservation.

Given that flushing generally requires dumping a bucket of water into the bowl(as the normal lever just swirls it about), and that my stepdad would likely constantly bitch about the water use, we generally don't if it's just piss.

You could say it's a shitty toilet, and in most cases you'd be correct.

Someone sent me a text message asking for my email and postal address.  No explanation.  So I told them.
They did know my first name, so it was almost certainly someone who I meant to add to contacts and didn't.

Turns out it was someone I knew, and they wanted to email me an invitation to the crazy Thanksgiving thingy...  And a shirt!

Mostly just wtf that they didn't explain and I didn't ask for one, but I'm in a pretty weird place right now.

Not the least because I tried diet pepsi and it tastes good and I've kinda wow had a lot I think today, I don't usually drink caffeine at all, I hope I can go to sleep in a few days maybe

My WTF is that a manga I've been reading started out a bit dark (to kick off the plot), turned into comedy, and is now creepy as all hell.  Dungeon Meshi, for the curious.
