No, english is just medieval dutch that got screwed by the French.

Er....how? I don't recall the Dutch doing much in England, barring William III, and that was after the French screwing occurred.

Both english and dutch (and german) are west germanic languages. The Normandic French invasion (1066AD) (and before that the Norse Vikings 900-1100AD) altered english away from that common root. (Although about 1/3d of the invading Norman army came from Flanders, and many settled in England, adding newer dutch influence to the language). Between the 11th and the 17th century, england absorbed a lot of refugees from the low lands. Fragments of text and oral tradition from before 900-1000AD still show the common root strongly.
The Dutch Golden Age (1600-1700) further infused the english language with dutch words (mostly maritime / naval), and then there's South Africa. Through South Afrikaans, which is 95% dutch, more dutch words were incorporated to the english language.

The Viking influence didn't necessarily alter it from the common root overly - both languages are Germanic, after all, albeit of different branches.

Saying that English is just dutch screwed by the French because they shared a proto language seems the same as saying that Dutch is just Medieval English screwed by the Germans, or somesuch.

Dutch never had a particularly ground-breaking influence on the English language that I know of. They had the same daddy, but it can't be said that either is one of them plus (whatever).

Although, the influence of Dutch on maritime terminology is certainly interesting.

Why do some people snip dogs' tails short? Aesthetics?

My dad's got a Doberman with its tail docked. We didn't do it, just for clarification.

Nice dog. Bit weird looking, since it's still a pup. Like a wiener-dog with stilts, its legs are so long.

I think hunting dogs get their tails docked 'cause it gets in the way if it's in a forest or something.

Some dogs are bred with docked tails, so there's that.

Seriously? That's crazy, they go beautifully together. Preferably while the potato is warm, though, otherwise it'd be rather cold on the mouth.
