Isn't it great when the only way to fix Origin is to pirate their games and your suggestion IS piracy?

As for Source... Dark Spore... EA created Embargos.

Or do you want links to actual articles?

Though I never liked that justification "Old game"...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Downloading a game from an illegal site is not piracy when you legally bought the game. It's called 'retrieving your posessions'

No, it's called piracy.

Ethically, maybe. Technically, you bought the license, not the game.

Ethically you're stealing the game. It's not the copy you bought, so it's still piracy.

I thought piracy is theft of unlimited resources? The injury the victim suffer is from the opportunity cost, rather than direct loss.

Piracy isn't theft.

You're receiving something without paying for it. How is that not theft?

Nobody is losing anything, though.

And in the case that we're discussing, of pirating something that you've already bought, you did pay for it.

Because the product you paid for was stolen from you by Origin when they stopped working with steam? So you're in your full right to pirate it back. I'm willing to bet that would even hold up in court.

Again, ethically, yes, legally, no. You signed th agreement that allowed Origin to revoke your license and take your soul and your firstborn.

People do lose resource in creating he resource you pirate, though.

You're not using the copy that you bought if you pirate it though.

That would be like buying a shirt, losing said shirt, then going into the store and demanding they replace the shirt you lost.

No it would be like buying a shirt, only to have the store clerk rip it from your hands and say it's revoked.

That's not piracy. I'm not defending what EA are doing, but saying that downloading something that you didn't pay for, regardless if you've paid for it before, is piracy.

My analogy was poor though. It would be like going into the store and taking a shirt off the rack.

I never said anything about downloading something you didn't pay for. Ofcourse that's piracy.
I guess we just disagree on the concept of 'paid for'.
